John called our TV games back in my day and was a mainstay in Valley Sports for decades. He was great at his job and loved and supported the local sports programs.

Definitely enjoyed listening to Cappy on the radio. It's rare that I listen to AM radio anymore, but his afternoon show made for a fun drive home
 
One of the finest human beings I have ever known. I know he is there sitting in heaven telling our Heavenly Father a “tip of the cap.”
He loved sports and could talk for hours about our favorite subject. But, he was always fair. I remember complaing about the Massillon coach breaking off the great rivalry between Warren Harding and Massillon over the call at the goal line when Harding scored to win the game. John simply said to me, “He’s right. Warren fumbled the ball before the QB CROSSED THE PLANE OF THE END ZONE!”
I shall miss him greatly.
