Loveland's Rez Rokicki (senior) scored a massive 25-ft improvement beyond his pre-meet PB at the friendly confines at Batavia HS on Tuesday. The winds were very favorable, not too strong, but the classic quartering right-hand winds for right-handed discus throwers coming in from the west. Batavia's setup is slightly uphill, so this mark was a very legit throw as I witnessed him sling a fast & flat trajectory into the quartering wind that saw it sail long into the sector. Rez had set several new PBs in the competition in the 170s before his 6th-round blast.

With that massive throw, Rokicki moves into a tie for #31 on the Ohio all-time list, and #2 on the Cincinnati-area all-time list, trailing only Western Brown's Macklin Tudor's 206' 4" OHSAA record set at the Wayne Invite in 2012!

Wouldn't be the first conflict! The 1975 district meet at Norwood had a legendary clash @ Norwood HS. A certain legendary coach known well to some here on Yappi had to physically do a sit-down in the discus ring to protest the head official's (well-known problem official in times past) decision to conduct the discus while a baseball game was being conducted on the same field. The nearest players were only 160 feet away, so I'm told, and the official had the cops called on the coach, only to have the cops tell the official that HE would be arrested if he conducted the discus with the conflict ongoing!
