Referee Blows Whistle, Play Continues, Unbelievable

It did not effect the outcome of the game, but a referee blew his whistle and made a motion with his arm indicating a foul then pointed that the ball was out of bounds during the GlenOak-Louisville Girls Game today. Unbelievably the play continued, Louisville players stopped playing, and GlenOak scored. This cannot happen, if you blow the whistle make a call!

Didn't look like a big deal, if even a foul. I didn't hear much of a whistle. It sounded more like a shoe squeaking. Trying to stir up trouble?

Did you ref that game? Explain the referee hand signal just as their was a whistle...everybody in the gym heard it.

That was definitely a whistle. But who cares? They were up by 9 points in the 4th quarter and in girls basketball, that's an insurmountable lead in such a short amount of time.

Lep, it came across clear on your video but people in the stands even as close as I was sitting (and you know where I was) debated whether he actually blew it or not. He put his arm out to help out Radalia (sp?) and in trying to get the whistle out of his mouth I think he ended up chirping through it. I'll agree it should PROBABLY have been an inadvertant whistle/jump ball call but that play didn't affect the game at all.

Why would you ask that?

Because it sounded like a cover up by completely denying that their was a whistle.

Anyways I'm not trying to start trouble, it didn't effect the outcome no big deal. I just don't want it to happen again in a tournament game or a game deciding a league title...involving any team not just Louisville. The refs have a tough job, but this is worse than any blown call...and its dangerous. Maybe not as much in basketball, but think if you did it in football.

LN, you're making a mountain out of a molehill. It's hardly dangerous. Could it have been handled better? Sure.... but it was just one of 'those things' that happen on rare occasion in hs games. I've seen far worse in tournament games that deserve the 'this is a travesty' level of emotion that you're giving this. If anything I'll give the guy credit for trying to check on the player down on the floor at his feet. There were a number of umm... interesting... calls yesterday that would be worthy of discussion, this was just an entertaining aside.
