PKs in the tournament

Game went to PKs last night. Is it standard practice for the goalie to hold the ball until the kicker reaches the spot, and then to hand it her? Have always seen the ref do the handover. Regardless - smart strategy.

Don’t recall seeing this before, so no, I would say it isn’t standard. As a ref, I’d prefer to do the handover just to decrease the chance of any shenanigans.

So walk me through this...

Team #1 goalie: Doesn't hold the ball
Team #2 goalie: Holds the ball and hands it over every time.

After the shot when the goalie switch happens, goalie #1 walks out of the goal and goalie #2 retrieves the ball, holds it, and then hands it to the next shooter? If that's the case, no that's not common practice, and there's a simple way to counter it. Before goalie #1 leaves the goal, retrieve the ball and roll to the ref after each shot!

Well yes. Now all the rest of you yapsters and your teams will be ready!
