Pickaway Diamond Report #10 : Circleville Tigers Softball 2025 Preview
Circleville High School Lady Tigers are ready for the new season.
Head coach Hayden Ellis is entering his second year at the helm of the Circleville High School Lady Tigers softball team. With a 16-10 overall record and a district runner-up finish last season, Ellis is optimistic about the team's prospects for the upcoming year.
The Lady Tigers return a strong core of players, including Claire Davis, Kayla Fleck, Kaylee West, Anna Keaton, Tori Bennett, Audrey Cowdery, Makaylee Holbrook, and Rylee Starner. Ellis is also excited about the addition of transfer student Jenna Boring and senior Kylie McCain, who is returning to the team after a four-year hiatus.
While the team lost key players Gabby McConnel and Ella Michael to graduation, Ellis believes that the returning players will be impact performers this season. "We are still a young team, but with Kayla Fleck and Audrey Cowdery in the circle, Kaylee West behind the plate, and a strong defense behind them, I believe we will be able to keep a lot of teams off balance and compete," Ellis said.
The Lady Tigers' strengths lie in their defense and speed, but Ellis acknowledged that the team needs to work on its mental IQ and base running. "We need to work on getting crafty on the bases and using our speed to our advantage," Ellis said.
Despite these challenges, Ellis is excited about the season ahead. "We get to face a lot of really great programs that will only make us better," Ellis said. "Our goal as a team is to do the little things, work hard, be happy for each other's successes, and compete with whoever is across the diamond."
The Lady Tigers opened their season on March 24th against Portsmouth Notre Dame; they will also hit the road to face Jackson 3/25.
