Game 1
The Lady Warriors Mount Epic Comeback to Defeat the Fairland Dragons 16-6 in Game 1 of Doubleheader
In a thrilling game that saw Adena trailing by as many as five runs, the team staged an incredible comeback to defeat Fairland Varsity Dragons 16-6 on Saturday.
The Dragons came out swinging, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. Katie Dehart singled, scoring one run, Maddie Short doubled, scoring two runs, Aubree Cyrus grounded out, scoring one run, and Nevaeh Clark singled, scoring one run. The Dragons added another run in the second, with Dehart singling to center field, making the score 6-2.
However, the Lady Warriors refused to give up. In the bottom of the third, they tied the game thanks to an error, a double by Addy Cottrill, and a double by Jolyn Jett.
The Lady Warriors then flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring eight runs on four hits to take the lead, 14-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Lexi Pettit on the sixth pitch of the at-bat that drove in two.
Allie Bossert earned the win for Adena, surrendering one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking two. Cottrill led things off in the circle for the Lady Warriors, surrendering eight hits and six runs over three innings.
Jett led the Lady Warriors with three hits in four at-bats, while Adelynn Nelson, Jett, and Pettit each drove in three runs. Marly Halcomb paced the team with two walks, as the Lady Warriors accumulated five walks for the game.
Aubrey Hayes, Dehart, and Jordan Spencer each collected two hits for the Fairland Dragons, while Short and Dehart each drove in two runs.

Adena completed a sweep of their doubleheader against Fairland on Saturday, defeating the Dragons 13-3 in game two.
Marly Halcomb had a monster game for the Lady Warriors, collecting four hits in four at-bats, including a home run to center field in the fifth inning. Halcomb also singled in the first, second, and fourth innings, leading her team's potent offense.
Adena got on the board early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Adriana Guarnieri grounded out to score one run, while Addy Cottrill, Allie Bossert, and Lexi Pettit each singled to score one run.
Cottrill added to the Warriors' lead with a single in the bottom of the second, making the score 5-2. The Lady Warriors then blew the game open with two runs in the bottom of the fifth on Halcomb's home run.
Bossert earned the win for the Warriors, surrendering one hit and two runs over four innings while striking out four and walking five.
Adena piled up 16 hits in the game, with Guarnieri leading the way with three runs batted in. Adelynn Nelson, Cottrill, Kelsea Brown, and Pettit each collected multiple hits for the Lady Warriors.
Fairland's offense was limited to just three hits, with Leah Price leading the Dragons with one run batted in.
Adena will host Waverly on Monday.
