PC (22-3) plays Olentangy (22-3) on Saturday for Region 3 Championship. I am a long-time follower of the Lady Tigers, but I longer have any close ties to the program and have only been to 5 games this year. This year's team is very good, but certainly not 'vintage'. There's not a superstar player like Berry Wallace (now at Univ. of Illinois) was last season. They do have three 'really good' players, but their outstanding guard, Rylee Bess (Purdue-Ft Wayne signee), has not played lately. She's a great long-range shooter (13 ppg last year). I see her on the bench, so i'm assuming she's injured. Anyone know what happened?

Just read about it in the Dispatch. I'm impressed how PC was able to overcome her loss. Bess played with great poise and was an incredible 3-pt shooter. With her, PC was a borderline 'great' team. Without her, they're more "really good". Hopefully, she'll be back for her 2025-26 college freshman season.

Who are their other "really good" players?
PC does not have a 'star' player. By that, I mean there's nobody who'll be an impact player at the next level. This team does not have a player the caliber of Berry Wallace. What they do have is athleticism. Berry's sister is tall and athletic, but is limited on offense. Johnson is also ~ 6' and very athletic, but also very inconsistent on offense. Coleman is their other "really good" player. She is very talented on offense. Good shooter, aggressive, but still needs to work on her ball handling. The guards are dynamic, but turnover prone. PC can go about 8 players deep and they play HARD on defense.

I haven’t been in the Pickerington area long, but I’ve been disappointed in the student support in both schools in football and basketball. Why is that? Seems like the students only show up when they play each other.

It's a far cry from when people would drive hundreds of miles to watch Pickerington's girls back in the 90s, including people who didn't even have kids in the program and were just basketball fans. I live in town now and don't understand it other than that there are a lot of other things for kids to do ... and multi-school districts tend not to have that huge student support either. Olentangy seems like an exception.

Well, PC did have some 'semblance' of a student section last night... The size was very disappointing though. Neither PN or PC have a pep band anymore at bball games. I remember being totally amazed by the 13,000+ fans who packed St John for the Logan vs. Pickerington championship game in the early 90s. Back then, the community support was incredible. One of the things I really liked was that they would bring senior citizens from a local facility and they could attend for free. I moved to Pick in 1989 and once the new high school opened in 2004, the 'community' feel went away.

Under 3K for the D1 final. Princeton turnout was decent but smaller than when they were in the final two years ago. Surprising they didn't bring a pep band. Are schools allowed to?

Congrats to Pick C. on the win.
