#PACtion™ 2024

The one you identified as Mogadore is Akron Springfield. Mogadore's territory tiny, and it's too far north to be on the map. It sits between Springfield and Tallmadge going north on Route 91.

This is the first time I've seen the Wayne County district lines (what is Waynedale doing!). Those shapes are absolutely bonkers. I believe the Eastern part of the Smithville district used to be Marshallville. When Marshallville closed in the 1930s, its students went to Dalton, which is the closest high school to it, but there was some law that you can't bus students through a part of another district (Orrville in this case), so it became part of Smithville's district. This was mentioned before on this thread months ago.
Appreciate the tip on Springfield. I knew they were really close (ok, they’re close to someone who lives ~200 miles away with little to no interaction with the Summit/Portage County line 😂) but got messed up trying to think of where Coventry fit. I was thinking of Moggy as being south of 76, but alas.

And that’s a pretty cool bit of information on Smithies/Orrville. Thanks!!

WAIT NOOOOOO. THAT'S NOT HILLSDALE!!! I got caught looking at the southern edge of the district thinking that it spanned two counties!! I'm a buffoon!!! Ashland County is west of Wayne!!! I can't think of what the dang district is called, and I know they're in the WCAL!!! ARGH

edit: It's Waynedale!!!

another edit: just pulled up the Maps app to see how close I was on the Mahoning County ones. Not even close. D'oh! Making matters worse is I know that I've talked about BCWR and where the name comes from on a previous iteration of the R25 thread, didn't come to me how far south in Mahoning it was. Niles was a dumb guess (was thinking about the exit for Niles on I-76.) I realize the other one I screwed up in Mahoning, too. Hopefully my penance is not to spend 30 minutes with their resident poster. That was a bad miss, thanks to my dumb self forgetting that it's not called North Lima South Range anymore (or is it?) It's called [that other place] South Range
I see what you did w/ that district in Mahoning. Picked the wrong city that starts w/ a "C." Been through a lot of those places while traveling on U.S. 224, a.k.a. Waterloo Rd. If I head out of Alliance north on Rt. 225, I run through Marlington and along the boundary of Waterloo and Southeast, make a right on 224 to plunge into Southeast proper (where you guessed J-M), then BC Western Reserve, then Canfield, then Boardman, then Poland, then you're into Pennsylvania. Struthers is north of Poland, and Campbell is north of Struthers. NE of Poland is Lowellville and its famous concession stand.

All in all, very well done for residing so far outside of the area in question.

Incidentally, the way I always remember Akron Springfield is the rather large lake in the northern part of the district which is appropriately named Springfield Lake. U.S. 224 skirts the north shore of the lake.

Oh shoot! That wasn’t J-M, was it? (Duh, hence the name Southeast, as in Southeast Portage County…? Would make sense.)

Yeah unfortunately in my mind I completely forgot about US 224 and was thinking of where things were at in relation to 76. As in “well, we’re close to Lake Milton right?” Actually have been on 224 once — when @sportfan97 and I were heading home from Hartley-Ursuline at YSU (Thursday night, wk 1 2021) there was some accident or construction on 76w further ahead per Waze, so we got routed to take the ‘quicker route’ which… was… whatever exit that got us south to 224, then south to Alliance, then southwest on 62 through Louisville.

Pitch black. Deer huntin’!! I think what we got detoured around was possible construction on 76w -> 77s in Summit County? I recall later going up to DUKES in November that year, and 77 just absolutely being miserable in Canton with the construction (at least the narrowed lanes that seem to jump everywhere. With Jersey barriers, too?)

I actually wrongly thought Campbell was south of Youngstown. I knew Struthers was on the PA border. Had the idea that Campbell was close to Struthers recalling threads of (whatever that league is called, name escapes me, the NE8?) and thought ‘huh close enough.’ Again stupidly forgetting the indomitable saga of “where the city of C*nfield’s water lines begin and end” w/r/t South Range.

Thanks for dropping in and stimulating the conversation @The Dock. Loving the district breakdowns too @Mr. Slippery. That first Canton centric image had me searching thru all the places to eat. Then y’all expanded it and my brain started to get fried (much like the majority of the food I’ve consumed across that map).

#PACtion2024™ - even we don’t know what it’s all about, but you know you like it

Sounds like the Rt. 225 exit in the heart of SE country, which is to say in the middle of nowhere. As part of a self-contained bike trip to my brother's residence (at the time) in NW PA, I once pedaled 225 north all the way from the Stark-Portage line to where it meets Rt. 5 at the Ravenna Arsenal as part of my self-devised route. A heck of a good route it was. Mostly flat, relatively light traffic compared to other options, and I arrived way earlier than anticipated when factoring in that I was carrying all my stuff on the bike. Heaviest traffic I probably encountered was the stretch where 225 and U.S. 224 run together to the circle at Deerfield. With 1 of these new-fangled e-Bikes, that trip would be ridiculously easy today.

Struthers City SD is near the border but not actually on the PA border, and yes that league is the Northeast 8, and it's been a pretty tough league since coming into being. I recall years ago when I suggested that South Range would fare well in the league that a certain Struthers poster who may no longer be with us (haven't seen him post in a couple years) scoffed at the idea. In retrospect, it's hard to believe that South Range was lined up to replace Louisville in the EBC but then pulled out when an offer to join the newly formed NE8 came the Raiders' way.

My sixth grade nostalgia of Ohio History with Mr. Laubacher at Paul F. Pfieffer middle school has been awakened as I observe the township maps of the 88 counties.

Delightful #PACtion™️ this morning.
What's your thoughts on that fancy new jr high ya'll are going to get ready in about 4 years if I read the article correctly? Getting some nice financial support over there in wakie land

I know I didn't get them all, because I can't for the life of me think of what that district northeast of United, southeast of Salem is called. I don't want to cheat and go look at Eitel. The name is on the tip of my tongue... ughhhhhhhhh

edit: just now saw there was a district below Strasburg. uhhhhhh... Dover is the that is in the north and New Philly is south of Dover, right? I always screw that up.
Now, lets overlay the Bellstores locations and really get down to brass tax on #PACtion expansion!

Have to ask...always do when Marlington is mentioned in a football forum (that is why this question is rarely mentioned..lol).....What is a Duke!

Not sure if we mentioned it yet, but the district that was southeast of Salem was Leetonia.
I figured out that I had it correct on the map I submitted (“Leetonia is the one I cannot fix a text box into”) but after I tried finishing off the northerly districts I saw it was still open, which made me panic and think “is there one I’m forgetting?”

80/88 counties under my belt, but the other 8 I don’t see myself encountering. Columbiana is one of the two ‘NEO’ ones.

I live over in Lorain County where the Wellington Dukes are. They claim to be the original Dukes. If you ask Keystone, they are the Pukes. A 'Duke' is not a cool named dog like we'd hope or a 1970's southern Dodge driving cool guy always in trouble with the law, or even- God forbid, a gas station, it is an aristocratic royalty member in England.

Duke, Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl;

Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl

Marlington made a really nice brochure explaining the origin of their district and how they arrived at the name Marlington. Interestingly, the brochure DOES feature a graphic of a bulldog but DOESN'T mention a word about how they arrived at the nickname "Dukes"
