GO BUCKS!

Both coming off injuries a loss not 100% or otherwise hurts their seeding come the important Tournament at the Big10's

While I agree with your statement, and speculate that this has a lot to do with whether or not they will wrestle, I'm perpetually disappointed that this is what the sport has come to. All this "strategic" selection of matches, the utter meaninglessness of any match/tourney that's not the Big 10s or NCAAs ... I don't like it. :cautious:

Dylan and Cole should be a fun match to watch. Lord knows they’ve probably wrestled over 1000 matches already. Great to see two guys that grew up together wrestling at this level.

Agreed. It's always disappointing when guys don't wrestle, although I can see the reasoning behind it...
"Reasoning" that skews the proper seeding in an important NCAA qualifier conference tourney ...is always unjust reasoning.

Is Carson hurt or not?Either you can go or you can’t GO. If there is any debate about this, then don’t’ wrestle.. and heal and all good.
But it makes me suspsicious if they are still trying to figure that out. Is Think about the kids on the roster… around that weight class… what a pain in the &@@.

How do you fix all the forfeits in college in tournaments placement matches and ducking during duals. If in tournament do you add a loss to there record if medical forfeit

125 No. 10 Malik Heinselman (Sr.) or Andre Gonzales (r-Fr.) vs No. 20 Jack Medley (GR) 4-0
133 No. 9 Jesse Mendez (Fr.) vs No. 12 Dylan Ragusin (r-So.) 4-3
141 No. 18 Dylan D’Emilio (r-Jr. vs No. 23 Cole Mattin (r-Jr.) 7-3
149 No. 3 Sammy Sasso (r-Sr.) vs No. 21 Chance Lamer (r-Fr.) or Fidel Mayora (r-So.) 7-9
157 No. 23 Paddy Gallagher (r-Fr. vs No. 10 Will Lewan (r-Sr.) 10-9
165 No. 9 Carson Kharchla (r-Jr.) or Isaac Wilcox (Jr.) vs No. 6 Cameron Amine (r-Jr.) 13-9
174 No. 8 Ethan Smith (r-Sr.) vs Max Maylor (r-Sr.) or Joseph Walker (r-So.) 13-12
184 No. 5 Kaleb Romero (r-Sr.) vs No. 8 Matt Finesilver (GR) 13-15
197 No. 21 Gavin Hoffman (r-Sr.) vs Brendin Yatooma (r-So.) 13-18
285 No. 16 Tate Orndorff (r-Sr.) vs No. 1 Mason Parris (5th) 18-18

Tied at eighteen (18) unless Malik wrestles.

GO BUCKEYES

If Malik and Karch don't go, which I fully expect Carson not to go, no idea about Malik, the 2 swing matches will be 133 and 141. I'll take the Buckeyes in both those matches. If we split it could come down to bonus points, so we will need 5 or 6 from Sasso and hope Ethan or Hoffman can get majors. It would also be nice if Romero comes out firing and picks up a major, although his opponent is pretty tough! LET'S GO BUCKS!

My thoughts:

125: Malik v. Medley – Malik is 4-0 against Medley, but their last matchup was in 2019. I think a healthy Malik takes this one by a takedown.

3-0 Bucks

133: Mendez v. Ragusin – Ragusin just wrestled a very close match with RBY. He’s a big 133, and that could give Jesse some issues. I’m going to give Ragusin the decision, but this is a huge toss up.

3-3 Tied

141: D’Emilio v. Mattin – These two have wrestled twice this year. At MSU, Mattin was up 4-2 (I think) when D’Emilio defaulted. In Vegas, D’Emilio won 6-2. I think the second result is the true reflection of this matchup.

6-3 Bucks

149: Sasso v. Lamer – Lamer didn’t wrestle against Penn State. If the backup goes out, it’s 4 or 6 for Sasso. If it’s Lamer, I could see a decision. I’m predicting a major though.

10-3 Bucks

157: Paddy v. Lewan – Lewan beats every Ohio State wrestler he faces either 3-1 or 3-2. So that’s the call.

10-6 Bucks

165: Carson v. Amine – These two split last year, with Carson winning 3-2 and Amine 3-1 in OT. I think Kharchla gets a TD in regulation and wins this one.

13-6 Bucks

174: Smith v. Maylor – Smith has a major over Maylor this year, and a TF and decision in the past. I think Smith gets the major, so long as he’s healthy and has his lungs.

17-6 Bucks

184: Romero v. Finesilver – Kaleb won 12-5 at MSU. I think Kaleb is wrestling better now than he was earlier in the season, and knows that every point matters. Major.

21-6 Bucks

197: Hoffman v. Yatooma – Hoffman majored Yatooma in Vegas, and I see history repeating itself.

25-6 Bucks

285: Tate v. Parris – Major, Fall, TF. Those are Mason’s results in this matchup. I think he gets the tech.

25-11 Bucks

No Malik or Carson means a 12 point swing, so bonus points will be huge.

Very good question ... How do you create a disincentive to duck/forfeit matches? Maybe you're on the right track ... In a tourney, if you didn't medically forfeit during your previous match, then you get a loss if you bow out of the next one. It always seemed strange to me that one guy gets a win for a forfeit (including a "no-show" MFF during a tourney), but no one gets a loss.

Hope you're right, but I'm not as optimistic with respect to (a) OSU having its optimal lineup, and (b) Carson winning if he wrestles, and (c) OSU bonus points.
