Congratulations to John Kieffer (Centre College, Dublin Coffman) on All-America status for his 14th place (24:31) race at the D3 NCAA meet today. And to Makorobondo Salukombo of Denison University for his 8th place finish in 24:21.

A big Congrats' to Sarah Fisher (Loveland, Washington U.), 14th place-21:31.34 and the Washington U. Bears, 1st place Women, 3rd place Men at the DIII Nationals!! Pretty fantastic job by that little school in St. Louis. Great job BEARS!!

My daughter is a WashU grad, so I am proud of their accomplishment. The school is not that small though, 7000 undergrads. This compares to Centre's is 1300.

My oldest son is a PhD student at Wash U in St. Louis. As mathking said they are not a little school. They have an excellent athletic program. They now have 19 total NCAA D3 team championships. The womens CC team also won in 2008.

Sorry to underestimate their size. I didn't check their enrollment...just took it for granted, because it's a DIII. Also Sarah Fisher finished in 22nd place, not 14th (still All-American). I guess I have to learn how to read the results better...LOL! My bad, I'll research it better next time. But again, CONGRATS' to all from Wash. U.

Congrats to Unioto grad Galen dills who made all-American (16th) for Shawnee state in the NAIA National Championships.

Congrats' to another Loveland grad., Erin Bauer (Senior, Malone University). She finished 12th and her team finished 1st at NCCAA DII Nationals.

Junior Melaine Frank (Gilmour) Emory..ran in her third D3 XC National race...along with her teammate freshman Tamara Surtees from Kenston..

The size of school matters much less in college than in high school. Even at the D3 level most of the athletes were recruited. While in D3 most probably don't pick a school just for the sports team (it is more likely academics first) the opportunity to compete plays a role.

Congratulations to the men and women at Ashland who both qualified to the DII Nationals. The men finished 13th the women 18th. Well done!

Enrollment: 2200 undergraduate students

Mens DII Winner: Western State University w/enrollment ~5800

Congrats to freshman Alec Hernandez (Hoover) who runs for Embry-Riddle. The men's team finished 28th at the NAIA National Meet.

Emory is one of the top research university's in the south. The cost is real steep and it is difficult to get into. From what I know they aren,t giving out a lot of free rides there. That would restrict how many top athletes would be able to attend Emory.

Congrats to Ashton Avery (Canton McKinley), Mattie Rankin (Louisville), Sara Polatas (Hoover), and Maddie Schuler (Massillon Jackson), all former Stark County runners, running for the 1st place Malone Pioneers squad at NCCAA.
