Mountain was in good position to win but came off of the last water jump a bit awkwardly, momentarily losing balance. He nearly went down and did well to stay on his feet. The Georgetown guy was too strong and due to the misstep, Mountain couldn't muster up the strength to get the win.
Mountain ended the season with the fastest time in the NCAA with a 8:20.68, moving him ahead of Ohio State's Mark Croghan (Green HS) on the all time NCAA list. Croghan had a great career taking part in three Olympics and four World Championships. Mountain will get a chance to also qualify for the Olympics at the US trials in a few weeks.
