Most Wins Against an Opponent without a Loss?

Not so fast my friends. That Vanlue-Arlington series record is BVC only. Vanlue did beat the Red Devils when they were members of the Hancock County League from 1923-64.

Here are some impressive streaks I found from the Canton-Akron area. This is all since 1972.

Manchester is 16-0 vs East Canton.
Lake is 15-0 vs Sandy Valley.
Dover is 13-0 vs Indian Valley
Lake is 12-0 vs New Philadelphia.
Jackson is 12-0-1 vs Marlington
Lake leads Sandy Valley 21-5-0 since 1961

Don't forget Tuslaw over Fairless

On Ft Recovery's behalf, can you imagine starting a football program from scratch in the midst of the established MAC power houses ? Secondly, can you name me another program that has never won even a part of their league's football championship, yet has a state championship ?

After NB won their title a Hull kid from The Fort made this photo.......

I remember going crazy for FR and NB to 'get their's ' as enthusiastically as I do my own school.
Truly a unique conference

No, but I can name you a team that has 4 state football titles, but only two outright league titles. ;)

I agree, I was pulling hard for Fort Recovery, Anna and New Bremen when they made their state championship runs as well.

Not that there wasn't some inner family needling on occasion. I can remember an uncle razzing some New Bremen cousins at family reunions back before. "You guys have a trophy case, right ? Use it to store extra toilet paper and light bulbs for the most part or what ?"

As to the MAC being a unique conference, I guess I was always aware of that to a large degree, but some of these competitive balance discussions have further driven that home. For example the talk about counting all the boys in grades 9 - 11 being unfair because of high ineligibility and drop out rates. Never crossed my mind. What are our graduation rates ? I can't think of anybody that did not graduate during my time.

Another thing that appears to be somewhat unusual is that nobody transfers school districts, with the possible exception of a few families on the district edge who may have family ties to the bordering district, and typically start in kindergarten.

The Warriors lost their first 14 games against Louisville before finally winning in 2004. Carrolton is 2-26 all-time against Louisville, with the other win coming in 2012.
Incorrect.
Louisville leads the series with Carrollton 35-5-2 (1926-2017)
Louisville won 18 straight games before Carrollton won in 2004. Before that 18 game winning streak, the Leopards led the series 5-3-2.

Funny thing is if the softies who wanted Louisville out would had let it be the Warriors would be on a nice win streak.lol

Avon is 15-0 against Olmsted Falls. Quite impressive, as the Bulldogs have been a very good program the entire time.

The Lorain County conference was around from 1986-2005. During that time Clearview went 19-0 vs Keystone. They extended that winning streak to 21 before losing to them for the first time ever in 2013.

I was looking at the database that has all scores going back to 1972 and saw that the Leopards and Warriors hadn't played between 1972 and 1990, when Louisville joined the NBC. I assumed (incorrectly) that they hadn't met before that. How did you find the scores going back to 1926?

Steubenville is 14-0 against Cleveland Glenville and 15-0 against Cleveland JFK although those games were long ago.

Lots of sifting through newspaper microfilm at the library. In the case of Louisville though, there's an easier way because our friend LeopardNation has already done the work for us.

Not exactly sure of dates and numbers; The last victory over Tinora by Holgate was in the 80's. 86 0r 87 I think. Tinora won every game after that until Holgate left the GMC. Probably 35 or so in a row.

McDonald was 23-1 vs. Sebring McKinley between 1962 and 2022. McDonald won the first 3 and the last 20.
Sebring transitioned to 8-man in 2023.

This (and the other thread) piqued my curiosity, so I added another page to the Ohio Football Database site:
