Was great to see all the media coverage of the State ACME Tournament that was hosted in Coldwater.
*Radio
*Online streaming
*The Daily Standard newspaper
*Channel 35 out of Lima was there for pretty much the entirety with daily highlight packages on their news cast.
*I believe there was also radio/media from the Defiance area, but I am not certain. and I think there were others that I am forgetting.
I was only able to catch the last day and it saw Minster come back and beat Defiance in extra innings. Defiance was holding back a top pitcher for the finals and it backfired.
VW and Indian lake was a 1 run game, 2-1, with IL having the bases loaded in the 7th when there was an inning ending groundout by the kid who has the game winning walk off hit in the first round on Saturday.
Finals was 0-0 heading into extra innings before Minster broke through we they saw three great games on Monday (completion of 1 game, and 2 full games)
Very good and boisterous crowds. In the first round, Edgerton made their first appearance in the State ACME and their team had a police escort from their diamond to the town limits and packed the house. GREAT to see that sort of excitement and energy.
ACME has always meant accessibility for kids to play without the outrageous prices and travel, and fan friendly and an example was all kids got in free if they wore a baseball jersey!
CW has a great facility, and yes, I am a bit biased. Great field and amenities, in a great location in Memorial Park in the center of town.
A bit of a tech issue with the scoreboard on Monday that sucked, but at least they do have TWO scoreboards (rare for HS) so the players on the field always could keep track and also over half the fans could see the second scoreboard.
