He did not say that Gaetz slept with a 17 year old. Here is his quote --
“I’ll give you the truth why I’m not speaker,” McCarthy said. “It’s because one person, a member of Congress, wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17-year-old … An ethics complaint that started before I ever became speaker and that’s illegal and I’m not gonna get in the middle.”
“Did he do it or not? I don’t know. But ethics is looking at it. There’s other people in jail because of it, and he wanted me to influence it,” former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said.

He did ask for a pardon. It is still under investigation and Matt is looking to pull strings to make it go away...which is unusual for an innocent person.
 
I thought everyone was innocent until what is that proven guilty by something called evidence. Note to myself: That is unless your last name is Trump then you are told you have to prove you are innocent.

Also McCarthy has been smoking too much peyote, he was ousted for being too cozy with the left and not pursuing conservative policy more aggressively.

I disagree. The conservatives are trying to hold the RINOs to the promises that the RNC keeps saying that the party stand for. Trump just happens to be leaning more conservative than RINO and the left (including the press) is pushing the division. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Stick to your guns no matter what anyone says. The RINOs just want to make sure they get theirs and their feeling aren't hurt. No matter what the repubs say it will never be good enough for the left. So, go for it.
