I know the 7 divisions made for some strange tourney draws and some weird matchups......but can somone explain this one? Girls D5 Regionals.......Portsmouth is in the SE Regional at Logan HS (80 miles). They play Minford in the Regional final. Minford is 14 miles from Portsmouth and 70 miles from Logan. Proctorville Fairland.......which is 50 MILES TO THE SOUTHEAST OF BOTH PORTSMOUTH AND MINFORD.....is playing in the SW Regional at Lakota East.......166 miles ONE WAY

I think I know what you are getting at, and I dont disagree....BUT....lets say that two teams are about to play for a State Championship, and they are only 60 miles a part. But to get to UD it's a farther drive time for both schools...OHSAA isnt going to be like "well, we will make an exception". It's called the State Tournament...Not the local tournament. So the farther you advance in the tournament, there is going to be some drive time.

It's the same way in all sports. Drive times are not ideal the farther you advance. It is what it is.

It would be an absolute nightmare for OHSAA to have to find neutral sites that accomodate each game in each round. Hence why they have designated sites for teams to play at during each round of the tournament.

That's not my point at all.....I get that. Do a quick Google map search and you'll see what I mean. The fact that Fairland is in the SW Regional and Portsmouth and Minford are in the SE is ridiculous.

The Southeast District has a number of Div V schools. There were 3 brackets in girls. Two of the brackets went to Logan and one to the Southwest. Portsmouth was the top seed - they took Logan. Fairland was number 2 - they took the SW Regional (probably to stay away from Portsmouth who beat them twice and is the top seed for a reason. Minford was the third seed and they were left with the Logan Regional. They could only put two teams from the Southeast at Logan because of two teams coming from the East. A geographic mess to be sure.

Will say that the OHSAA did the right thing by moving the Division 3 Regional Finals between Avon Lake and Akron St Vincent-St Marys to Cleveland Benedictine HS rather than travel to Zanesville HS. Between the 2 schools there were maybe 75 fans that made the trip to Zanesville for the Regional Semi Finals- Will say both schools boys teams were also playing the night of the Regional Semi-Finals- that is whole different conversation that needs to happen.

But it looks like the 3 Cs get the advantage.. the state is taking the easy road and not factor in all the logistics.. there out is well we are paying for travel. Lazy
