Rumors are going around that Havens might play doubles. Why would he do that? Columbus Acadamy would win state any other year but this one with the team they have. Unfortunately, Indian Hill is loaded and better at every position. Devin Mccarthy has improved and is the best sophmore in the state and will be a force to reckon with. Boardman is the second best team in D1. St X is really good but Bryant Salcedo is going to give the state a show this year and at least make St.X nervous along the way. Allare and Salcedo in the state final together unless they get a bad draw. Watch out for Joey Fritz! Will Knoll has had some good results this year and must have worked his butt off this past year, good job. Any thoughts?

Havens is playing doubles. In the same sectional defending champions McCarthy and Mahalingam are the second seed. I bet two sets of doubles champions in previous years have never been in the same sectional again. Two state doubles champions playing each other in a sectional final. Thats a powerhouse sectional.
 
havens is playing doubles. i heard its because andrew mccarthy beat him 2 and 1 at kalamazoo. word is that hes "scared" of andrew. i dont know how true that could really be but if it is than havens is a ----.
 
I heard that he is playing dubs last night! Other people have mentioned to me that he is not in the mood for challenges this year and thought he could waltz through the dubs to a state title. I think the Indian Hill duo will make it at least tough and maybe the Newmann brothers could give them a run.

You should probably get your facts straight before you say stupid ---- like that. Being on God's "chosen team" doesn't mean you can say anything you want.
 
i think having a 15 and 16 record on andrew mccarthy is pretty good. i doubt he is scared, if anything it would be the other way around. mccarthy and vinod will win tho. dumb move on havens part in my eyes when he could win state in singles. isnt shidler also injured?
 
some thoughts.

I did hear that shidler was injured but will be healthy for the tourney. McCarthy is playing way better than Havens right now. Havens lost to ramaswamy in a tourney last week, and McCarthy beat rama 6-06-2 just two days ago. The Indian Hill team will have a very tough time beating Havens and Shidler, they are very good together. But anything is possible. No matter what, the cincy sectional once again will dominate the state. I'm betting McCarthy in singles and the CHCA and IH teams in the state final.
 
Probably so. Havens is one of top three players in the state besides' Salcedo, Allare, and McCarthy. They should beat the IH duo. But that's why they play the matches.
 
Who else is better than Havens? Ramaswamy beat him for the first time ever. I think Havens beat him 10 times in a row before last week. The kid is right there with Allare, Mccarthy, and Salcedo. Check they're Nat'l Rankings. All of these guys are within 50 spots of each other. And i'm nt a big fan of shidler but i call them like i see them. He's good. A state qualifier every year plus a state title in the pocket as a freshman. If h's really injured than it could be interesting.
 
explain how shidler is "clearly worse." he beat vinod last year in singles and also once in doubles (with dahmus) and had match points to do it twice

You're right he is ranked highly in singles. But what about doubles? I'm not bashin on bryant he's a really good player but one person can't win state. They probably are the favorites to win but it won't come easy
 
Salcedo is sick at tennis. I just would've like to seen some one of his ability fare off in the finals against Matt Allare. He's probably doing the brother thing for fun because his little bro will never win a state title any other way. It wont be easy though. The St.X team of drosick and gaffney will be very tough.

Allare > Salcedo
 
Allare is good but i think bryant beat him the last three times they played. Not for sure though. Anyways it's not going to happen as allare will cakewalk to the title.

He is doing what i should of done my senior boy! I would of loved to see matt and bryant play though. last time i watched at the toledo nat'l open matt won 3 and 1 and made bryant look silly but everyday is a new one. he also understands how stupid and meaningless high school tennis results are.

Steve is CLEARLY one of the three best. haha ridiculous, on any day he can beat anyone in the nation, as can allare, mc carthy, or salcedo. And i dont know what the deal is with ramaswasmy but no one gives him any credit. he deserves it, he doesnt always have consistent results but he has proven time and after time that he can play with almost anyone on any given day. In response to havens being afraid of A Mac, i am pretty sure havens fears no one. no reason to. He has college set and wants to have fun, why should he worry about high school results, he has bigger and better things in his future at a top 5 school called Notre Dame

shidler is an excellent player! He can play very well and with havens i dont really see anyone beating them. It's possible but i dont really think so. It is a good choice to play doubs, i think it is revealing that 2 of the top 3 players in the state have high school tennis in such good perspective that they dont worry about what people say and they just do what they want because they want to have fun or help a friend or brother win a state title. pretty cool if you ask me
 
Salcedo and havens both playing doubles?? hm does that tell you people ANYTHING?? high school tennis means nothing in the long run. sure it is cool to have glory and be known but these two have nothing to prove nor are they scared of anyone. havens has a top 5 school called notre dame to look forward to. they have a great perspective on the whole thing. bryant wants to help his brother it looks like while havens is having fun with his boy shidler and not deal with the singles stuff probably a nice little break. i mean ---- he is set for college why not take a little break and have fun in doubles.
 
with the talent on display in the state tourney this year it should be very entertaining. The depth this year may not be the same as it has in the past but the top few players are all elite players and will all put on a show whether it is doubles or singles they compete in.
