Greenville Nationally Ranked in USA/Today-NFCA Coaches Poll

Make that 19-2. They just lost 4-1 to North Canton Hoover.

I was not at the games today as my dd and 3 other girls on the team had to come home for prom, congrats to North Canton, sounds like they played a great game.

19-2 is still a great mark and I am very proud of our girls and coaches for the national recognition.

Sweet, way to hang your teammates out to dry, gald to see what is more important. On another site it said 7 or 8 girls would miss the game do to prom. Did they stay or miss the game as well?

Those 4 kids did not hang there teammates out to dry as you put, the coach told the girls at the begining of the year that any girl that wanted to go to Prom would be excused. You have no right to make those kind of statements about 3 High School seniors and my kid and just goes to show that you have no class Heavy Hitter, just remember that there is more to life than softball.

It is called commitment. They made a decision to be on the team that was their choice. You still didn’t answer my other question. I thought 7 or 8 girls were going to miss do to prom. Did those girls go or stay?

These kids all work at softball almost 12 months out of the year between school ball, summer teams and winter open gyms so I think they have more than enough commitment for any one, my dd was the starting catcher as a freshman and the other 3 girls were starters by there sopmore year. How much more commitment do you want, they are after all still kids in high school.

To answer your other question I stated that my dd and 3 other girls came home for prom, those were the only girls not there for the game. Like I stated in my other post if Coach Newland was okay with this then what gives you the right to judge these kids for wanting the memories of a prom night with there classmates.

Too bad the school could not have been flexible or aware of the sports schedules when they scheduled the prom. Perhaps they tried and obviously there is more there to think of than just the softball teams schedule but, it would have been nice if they could have avoided the conflict.

You gave everyone the right to judge when you brought it up as an excuse them losing

I guess those other girls decided to stay for the game.

My cuz plays for Hoover and she said Greenville had their good pitcher at the game so Hoover beat their best. She said the girls at the game looked like they probably weren't asked to the prom so that might be why they didnt go.

That's a low blow.

Could be they were too young or were juniors and realized they'd have another shot to go to prom. Still, though, it would have been nice to see Greenville's whole squad there. Apparently, the missing players were starters, and their presence certainly could've helped the team.

Wilco, I agree that comment was uncalled for!

Heavy Hitter ,

This is my last post on the subject, if you go back and read my original post on the subject you will see that I congratulated Hoover on the win and made no excuses for the game. You have no right to judge nor make personal attacks on my kid or any other player from Greenville High School, it just goes to show what kind of sorry people you and Perry Princess are to attack these kids in such a personal manner when you do not even know them.

SHAME ON YOU AND ANYONE WHO WOULD SAY SUCH THINGS ABOUT KIDS LIKE THAT.

I really thought the administators of Yappi did not allow such things on here.

In closing I once again congratulate Hoover on the win and wish them the best of luck the rest of the season.

If it was a state tournament game, I could understand the criticism. However, for a weekend tournament, which essential will not effect this team in district seeding, the young ladies made a choice to take part in an important event in their life so give hoover their credit, they still beat a very, very good team and give the young ladies from Greenville some credit. Im sure the greenville team will bounce back.

I would respect that decision as a coach, parent and player.

You did make it an excuse by brining it up. That was a team matter and should have been left that way. You get mad because I disagreed with the decision. No one would have even known if it wasn't for telling the Yappi world, but you wanted to let the Yappi world know yes Hoover won a great game but Greenville will was missing 3 players plus your DD because of prom. I SAY SHAME ON YOU FOR MAKING TEAM BUSINESS PUBLIC.

Consider the source.... "perryprincess" (cough)

I doubt "she" has any relatives at Hoover and I am sure "she" does not speak for anyone on that team. Likely "she" is not very well liked in Perry either.

Just a troll trying to stir things up.

Could be, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt unless proven otherwise.

Instead of waisting your time posting on this site, why don't you play catch with your daughter so maybe she can work her way off the bench.

Speaking for the Hoover team I assure you no one from our team or community said what Perry Princess said we said. Greenville is a very talented bunch and we were glad to get out of there with a win. Congrats to Greenville and you deserve your ranking, good luck and keep it up.

this game really didn't mean that much as it was not a state tournament game. Those players would have been there if it were or if it were even a league game.

Also, Greenville is division II and Hoover is I, correct?

Hey, nice to know your the team and community spokesperson.:rainbow:

I'm just taking a guess then...
If we all agree that for tournament and state title hopes, this game was not important in THAT aspect...

Then what I'm guessing the issue is is that Hoover fans were excited they won a very big game and may have felt Greenville was saying if they had a full team it may have been different, which in turn may diminish Hoover's big win.

Too many things get said on here that shouldn't. Hoover great win, hope we play well against you tonight. Greenville see the big picture and not worry about a game where important players were missing. At the end of the season, Im sure Hoover's goal was not just to win that weekend tournament and Greenville wont dwell on this at all.

Enjoy the season, for all the seniors it is half over...enjoy it

Hollow Hero, you are correct… too many things get said on here that should not be said, especially by parents/fans who are looking to find anything at all negative to say about a team who is successful! Call it jealousy, spite, or whatever else you wanna call it… as for me, I am just puzzled?

Hoover should be excited about their win over Greenville this year, just as Greenville was excited about beating them in the Championship game of the same tournament last year! Anytime 2 GREAT teams play each other someone wins, and someone loses!! (at least last time I checked?) But one game does not take ANYTHING AT ALL away from an organization???

But the whole point of my rant here is that the start of this thread was to congratulate Greenville for being Nationally Ranked in USA/Today-NFCA Coaches Poll, am I correct???

And then people like MJE037 and Heavy Hitter 1 and perry princess butt their noses in, where they don’t belong, to try and berate a team and take away from there accomplishments?? And you are not even high school rivals or in the same Division?!?!? I don’t get it???

I have read over this thread several times, and NOWHERE in it did anyone say… If Greenville’s whole team was there, they would have never lost?!?! I don’t believe anyone was trying to make excuses for anything!? Greenville knew going into the tourney that kids were not going to be there on Saturday and decided to play anyways!? A parent simply stated he was not at the game, stated why…. Then offered his CONGRATS to Hoover, and his Congrats to his team for being nationally recognized?

Maybe certain people need to stop being sssooo defensiveand stop trying to put others down!!

MJE037, Heavy Hitter and perry princess, you a disgrace to your teams. I’m quite certain your coaches and the kids on your respecive teams would be embarrassed by your lack of class and representation of their schools that they work so hard to represent!!

I’m sorry to see that you have nothing better to do with you lives then berate 14-18 yr old high school girls… I hope you feel better about youselfs, I certainly do…

Waverider brought it up nobody else.

You don't want people to express any opinion then don't mention it. The real question why was it even mentioned in the first place?

NOWHERE in it did anyone say… If Greenville’s whole team was there, they would have never lost?!?! I don’t believe anyone was trying to make excuses for anything!?
Then why bring it up? No other reason then too let every on know; yes, Hoover did play a great game but Greenville was missing 4 players.

Maybe certain people need to stop being sssooo defensiveand stop trying to put others down!!
Look in the mirror

I made one comment on this thread and that was "make that 19-2, they just lost to Hoover 4-1".

That makes me a disgrace??
That shows a lack of class?
That is berating anyone?

Don't lump me in with anyone else - if you are going to call me out you better have more than "they just lost to Hoover." By the way, on another thread that turned into bashing the girls for missing the game, I defended their decision.

Get your facts straight before making such unfounded allegations.

Greenville gets back on track with two wins today:

Both teams played great. Its a shame that someone had to lose. Wayne will be a handful in the tournament for sure.

Game # 2

Greenville......................3
Youngstown-Boardman... 1

Greenville moves to 23 - 3 on the season with 2 good wins over 2 quality DI schools .
