Green beats Highland in Four

Highland put up a good effort, but Green took control and won the match in four games. The first game Green won by 8 or so points and the following games were all pretty close (3-4 points).
Highland has some girls that can hit the ball hard, but they had no answer for Jill Wolosiansky. Green needs to shore up some problem areas before showdowns today at Wadsworth and next thursday at Copley. G'luck to both teams as they continue through their season.

Yahtzee,

I'll be there tonight.. I'm assuming you will be too... stop by and say hi :D

You know I will!!

I just hope my little girl doesn't get eaten by your 6'2" Middle Hitter Jill Wolosiansky. We will have to rely on a very strong defense and our athleticism to overcome the overall size disadvantage, but as I told you 2-3 years ago, this sophopmore class would take over the program by this year and they have. They are extremely athletic and very quick to the ball and will surprise alot of people this year as the new coach is using there talent and athleticism to her advantage with a very quick offense and defense. I think it will be a very exciting match and a good measuring stick for our program. I will look you up when I am there, hopefully Bhudda will show as well. :thumb:

Yahtzee,

There's no stopping Jill.. you can only hope to contain her  ;) j/k.... in all seriousness, if Green's passing is on point, Jill will show you why she's going D-I. I'm happy your daughter has the mentality to want the challenge though.

I have to work late today but I'm hoping to get there right about gametime. Good luck to both teams... it should be a fun night

Oh, don't worry, my daughter and I are well aware of why Jill is going D-1, she is quite a player. Her and Emily Jones are the best two player's in the league and Jill may be ahead at this point. My daughter just knows that if we are to succeed we will have to deal with players like Jill along the way. Just as an FYI we did scrimmage Orville a week ago and despite their all everything 6'3" Middle Erica Short, our first team prevailed in a tight one. We just have to play to our strength's, quickness and athleticism, to frustrate the big hitters into a mistake and use the quick sets to ensure they are late on the blocking. There is no doubt Jill will get her kills tonight, but we will be happy if she wins the battle, but we win the war. :D

Yep and it's quite possible that'll happen. If Green goofs around in stretches like they did against Highland, it won't be pretty :dang:

Good analysis from what I saw and what I heard of the first two games (I happened to miss most of the dominant Wadsworth play... not that that's a bad thing ;) )... my impression from what I saw of the little bit of the end of the second game and the rest that some of Green's players were significantly affected by the atmosphere of the game. Credit the Grizzly faithful for having the place rockin'. Nice crowd and huge noise for an early season vb match. Wadsworth left the door open just a bit in the second game, let Green gain some momentum, and it was over from there. There were times it seemed Wadsworth was going to get back in it, but like Yahtzee said, one bad serve or a predictable set that was "roofed" back in Wadsworth's mug and Green was back in control. I honestly never doubted from the end of game 3 on that Green would win due to Wadsworth's youth and just how the two teams looked.

I gotta give credit to Wadsworth's new coach. From what I know of Wadsworth volleyball before, the energy and enthusiasm wasn't there. She had her team up and ready for this match and it almost was enough to carry them through to a win. My only criticism of her coaching for the match was as the match went on (and I'm sure as she got more frustrated), she spent far too much of her time (a vast majority actually) complaining to the officials on just about every call they made. I don't doubt that she had legitimate gripes on some of them as the officiating and line-judging (one line judge moreso than the other) wasn't up to par for the level of the match. That being said, when you have a young team and things are steamrolling against you at the speed that Green turned things around, you gotta ignore the calls and work your team back into the match. It's not easy and I myself have been caught up in griping many times (it's hard not to be), but it's one part of coaching that is a necessity especially with young teams.

All of that being said ;) , gotta say that was one of the more exciting and one of the best volleyball matches I've seen in awhile. Green should be thanking Wadsworth for giving them the wake-up call they needed. They hadn't played up to their potential in either of their first two matches, but started to look really good in this one late. Good luck to wadsworth as they continue through the SL. Here's to hoping the next match between these two will be for the league title

What's the secret to getting the photo link to work? Second such link I've had no luck with. I've even signed in to Yahoo...???

I think you have to send an "invitation" to a specific email address or address group for these links to work...still not working even when logged on to yahoo.
