How long has the current coach been at Mason, 4 years?

besides Moeller putting it away late, i'd say spot on. well done, Aves.let's get back on track and talk about GMC matchups in the post-season:
1. St. Xavier vs COLERAIN. no need to discuss this one. although if my memory serves, I believe Dominic Goodman Colerain team upset Johnny Wolf's St. X team back in the day when St. X was the #1 seed. may have actually been 20 years ago exactly. History won't repeat itselft here, though. Sorry, Colerain.
2. Lakota West vs Hamilton. Hamilton will make this a game for about a half. that's it. West will pull away early 2nd half.
3. Fairfield vs. Middletown. Probably most intriguing matchup. Could go either way. Only played once in the regular season and FF only won by 4. I'll call Middies in the upset.
4. West Clermont vs. East. East (and I mean Trey Perry) is too good here and WC has lost 10 in a row.
5. Moeller vs. Sycamore. this game could end up like 27-25. Sycamore has about a 15-20% chance to win if they can actually find ways to score. if Sycamore can score over 35 points, they should be in the game, because they know how to defend, and Moeller struggles to score just as much as Sycamore does. However, Moeller will probably will pull away late in this one.
Mason, Oak Hills, and Princeton post-season games aren't on the GMC site and I don't really feel like searching the OHSAA brackets. someone else can find those.
Had a good run at Tipp, really good first year at Mason. He will find away to get it going.Toohey has been at Mason 3 years.

Tipp ain't the GMC and Cincinnati basketball.Ehhhhh....
No it is not. I'm assuming Stemple is spellchecking the posting for the OHSAA websiteTipp ain't the GMC and Cincinnati basketball.
There's a decent amount of talent in the school that hasn't played basketball the last two seasons. There have been at least 6 players that have gotten time on varsity as underclassmen not come back out for the team the next year in his 3 seasons. That's a huge part of his problem. I can tell you that the parents of players in the Mason program do not have any confidence in him after this season. Whether that leads to any change this offseason, we will see. If he stays, program attrition is likely to continue. There is also friction between Toohey and Mason's baseball coach, Bly, over time commitments of players doing both sports (this isn't really too much on Toohey; Bly is kind of a jerk). Richards and Gray never had these issues and were best friends.I think Toohey should get another year. There just wasn’t any talent this year to compete.
I was really shocked at how passive Moeller played defensively as I really thought their length was going to suffocate the Aves. I've seen Moeller pick up full court man-to-man or play that aggressive 1-3-1 three-quarter court defense super effectively year-after-year, and they just didn't look like they had that. Never took Sycamore out of what they wanted to do, which was pass the ball around the perimeter to take time off the clock and get the best matchup for Imade or Kimbrough. Sycamore only turned the ball over 4 times! On the other end, Imade's length bothered Kazanecki, and Moeller didn't do one thing to try to get him free off-the-ball. Moeller also seemed content to hold it for the final 2 minutes to try to run out the clock when they only had a 1 point lead.Really good win for Sycamore and the perfect matchup for them. Moe plays slow and isn't very physical so they played right into Sycamores hand.
The biggest key to the game was Sycamore having Imade defend Kaz. It basically neutralized him and Moeller doesn't have any threats unless Bell makes a few 3s. I'm not sure who's the better matchup for them next game. Fairmont has a great player in Gentile but not much around him and Wayne is very physical but doesn't have high end talent.I was really shocked at how passive Moeller played defensively as I really thought their length was going to suffocate the Aves. Fairmont is 100% the better matchup. Sycamore has a size advantage against Wayne, but Wayne will absolutely force the tempo and try to make the game frantic, which will require Sycamore to score and may force then into some foul trouble since Sycamore only played 6 last night. I also worry that they would turn Kimbrough over too much. Fairmont will want to play slow as well and the game would likely come down to a few possessions, which is the kind of game Sycamore wants. There is also some familiarity since Sycamore played Fairmont each of the last 3 seasons. The biggest key to the game was Sycamore having Imade defend Kaz. Should be a good game. I thought Elder beating Fairfield was one of the more surprising results from earlier in the season, but, in reality, they are probably evenly matched. I think the key for Elder is Williams drawing fouls like he has been the last several games and getting Fairfield in foul trouble. Fairfield basically doesn't want to go to the bench if they don't have to. Key for Fairfield is making 3s. They will get open looks as Lewis and Crim can collapse the defense, but they were just 7-21 against Elder in the first matchup. I think they need to be above 40% in this game from 3 to win.Thoughts on Elder Fairfield?
I'm not gonna call Fairfield a "fraud" as they are good but they have managed to "squeak out" some wins this year that maybe they shouldn't have, whether it's beating West twice by a total of 3 points, a low scoring two point win vs. Fairmont, 4 pt win over the Middies, etc. their season they could have easily ended up 13-10 instead of 16-7.Should be a good game. Part of squeaking out those wins has been Crim and Lewis hitting tough shots with the game on the line. Remember, Lewis also hit the game winning 3 to beat Princeton in the regional semi when he was a sophomore. The moment isn't too big for those guys.I'm not gonna call Fairfield a "fraud" as they are good but they have managed to "squeak out" some wins this year that maybe they shouldn't have, whether it's beating West twice by a total of 3 points, a low scoring two point win vs. Fairmont, 4 pt win over the Middies, etc. their season they could have easily ended up 13-10 instead of 16-7.
I have a feeling Elder wins this one by 7-10 points.

But I think he gets another year.
Every underclassman player that saw time last season played this season. There were 4 juniors (Sulek, Hanley, Koelling, and Kirkllin) and one sophomore (Hibbert) that didn't play 23/24 seasons after playing in 22/23. Sulek and Koelling are at OSU for baseball, and Hanley is at Indiana. they knew this was their senior and final shot to win a baseball championship, so they went all in and quit basketball. Basketball was never their top sports to begin with. Hibbert only played a total of 6 minutes the entire season. Kirklin played in every game and averaged about 12 minutes. There's a decent amount of talent in the school that hasn't played basketball the last two seasons. Let’s throw the disgruntled parent part out of this. Of course there are, that’s in every program youth, jr high and high school.Every underclassman player that saw time last season played this season. I don't know about the disgruntled parents, but I do know the superintendant played a major role in him getting the job, so I doubt he's going anywhere. Greg and Ken were great friends, but at the same time the commitment level for sports in the offseason was completely different 15-20 years ago. Ken retired in 2013 and spent most of the year in Florida the last few years he coached because he was retired.
I am not trying to be a Toohey apologist, but I don't really think it's fair to spin a narrative that is not entirely true about kids leaving the program because of Toohey.
I guess when the superintendent's son is a starter on the team, there are a lot of feelings among the parents all the way around. Back-to-back 3-13 GMC seasons also makes nobody happy. Richards' worst GMC season was his last one that was 5-11.Let’s throw the disgruntled parent part out of this. Of course there are, that’s in every program youth, jr high and high school.
Mason will be ok and is in good hands
And if the disgruntled parents are the most talented kids then those kids will likely be playing at other schools by the time they graduateLet’s throw the disgruntled parent part out of this. Of course there are, that’s in every program youth, jr high and high school.

Plus they will have that freshman next year a top 10 player in his class. I do worry about their size next year depending on transfersPleased with the Vikes season thus far. Program looking up. Four of the five starters return next year.
He will not be at Princeton.Plus they will have that freshman next year a top 10 player in his class. I do worry about their size next year depending on transfers
You’re such a grumpy old man- enjoy finally getting to gloat for a second!Nothing better than seeing the cheaters go down to Sycamore
