A little off topic, but at the Reds/ Guardians game Tuesday night, as the 9th inning was starting, a fan ran onto the field, engaged with one player then evaded police, did a backflip and proceeded to evade police until one officer pulled out a taser and put the fan down. The aftermath was curious. Many cheered, maybe for the fan, maybe for the cop, who knows. But social media was pretty split on the decision to use a taser. What do you think? Was it warranted?

100% - zap him. Play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

Sure this guy goes over to Kwan and says "see my backflip" or whatever. But the next crazy might have a blade or something. Stay in the stadium fan area, or face the consequences.

No only because I have personally seen tasers fail or hurt the officer trying to use it. Best bet is to always train in some kind of grappling martial art and be in shape enough to chase the person down to be able to use it

That cop looks like he could handle himself. This wasn't Paul Blart.

Was at the Bengals packers game when a fan ran onto the field and took the ball from favre.
He made a few.moves but ultimately got destroyed by a security guard...best hit of the game.

Was told by someone who knew his family that he was trying to sue because it hie6 his back.

I'd say...whatever is the most effective and painful way to get this arrested

My brother was at that game as well. He still talks about it to this day.

Of those that I have seen, I think the tOSU’s strength coach’s tackle of the on-field trespasser a few years back was the best.
100%. That was Anthony Schlegel, middle linebacker back in the day with AJ Hawk and Bobby Carpenter. What a group that was.

UPDATE: Recall the young man at the Reds/ Guardians game who ran onto the field and was ultimately brought down with a taser. We'll, he's had his day in court, so to speak. At the time he was booked and spent a night in jail. The charges have now been dropped, and he was instructed to complete a diversion program which he has done. However, he is still restricted access to Great Amercian Ballpark.

Taser anyone entering the field of play these days you have no idea what that guy could be carrying….

Update #2, the drunk fan who ran on the field earlier this year and got tased, threw out the first pitch at a Florence Y'All's independent minor league game this past week. Just an incredibly brain dead decision by someone in that front office. I've never attended a Y'alls game, and after this, I would likely never choose to do so.

I'd rather attend, and do eaxh summer a yalls game and would rather pay to.do.so than go see the reds for free

To tase a guy you would have to be within taser-range. The overweight ushers/security might be hard pressed to get that close. I would suggest having a rottweiller handy.
