Fairmont stats?

Does anyone else find it weird that fairmont has 4 girls hitting over 400. 6 girls hitting over 300. and 2 hitting over 500? Yet their record is merly average to eveyone else. It seems to be a trend if you look at previous years. Buffing stats seems to be a possibility.Or they are playing trotwood a few too many times. Curious what anyone else thinks about it.

And with a nearly FLAWLESS defense they seem to be nearly unstoppable. Why doesn't their record show this. I know last year i went to a game and saw their catcher make her first three errors of the season. Just wonding what everyone else thinks about it.

Looked at their stats. There pitching doesn't look to be to good. they've given up 101 runs. And not to glowing a D. they hve 42 errors.

This is a normal thing every year in the Dayton Daily News, Fairmont will have the top 5 or 6 kids in stats but when you look at who they play in the non-league schedule you can see why this happens. There coach is going to get 20 wins a year and has a schedule that usually allows that to happen which is why they never seem to go very deep in the tournement. JMHO

That is kinda wierd. Its that way with most HS teams. When the girls gets on base cause of an error, its usually called a hit. On average, you can probably knock off 150-200 off of every batting average.

Fairmont is by far the best at this. Year after year they lead in most of the offensive catagories in the DDN but when you watch them play they actually look human. I mean the other team fields the ball, makes a good throw to 1st base and records an out in the offcial stat book, but in the Fairmont stat book it is recorded as a double (maybe even an atomic blast off of the outfield fence). It has become a running joke to everyone in the Miami Valley for years. My guess is that the only ones not in on the joke is the HOF caoch there.

When you look at their performance against all of the good teams in the GWOC they have not performed well. Losses to W. Carollton, Lebanon, Northmont twice, Wayne and in all of those games combined they have scored 5 runs. With batting averages like that they should have been able to muster up at least a run or so. Lets face facts, the firebirds are a middle of the pack team in the GWOC that nobody fears, and they blow up their stats to make them feel better about themselves. Nuff said.

yea and look what happened to them tonite. they got beat 2-1 by wayne. all that offensive firepower and they could only muster 1 run off of a little bit above avg pitcher.

just watch, they will end up with 6 or 7 players getting all conference honors in the gwoc and they lost to every decent team in the gwoc. the coach is an embarasment.

Its a shame to take away spots from people that actually put up the numbers. But at least I'm not the only one that is noticing the trend. Thats pretty embarassing though. Only one run this early in the tournament. You can only hide it for so long i guess...

I think that fairmont has exited the tournament in the first or second round of sectionals for like the past 6 or 7 years. maybe hanging stats like that is the only accomplishment that the coach control. trust me i saw them play a few times this year, they do not have 4 or 5 players legitimittly batting over .500 and several in the .400's. just not so.

Stats

Its High School Ball what do you expect?

I would say 8 out of 10 teams do not know how to keep a proper book. (most have a parent or bench player keep the book).

Yes, I agree it is disappointing when you have a coach padding stats but; lets face it. HS softball is more for fun and to support your school / community like recreational ball.

There are some stud players but; they are at the mercy of their team/coaching in HS so, some stats can be slewed one way or another.

The people who count know who the pretenders and contenders are.

Don't know why you are so shocked they only scored 1 run last night. In the two reqular season games this year they last 3-0 and 3-2, sounds like two evenly matched teams to me

not really shocked about fairmont only scoring 1 run in that game, they were clearly beat by a better team. the discussion is about their highly suspect stat keeping. they have been a joke for some time now and it really makes them look silly when they have so many statistical leaders and yet they can only muster 1 run. that kind of drives the point home i think.
two things are a consistent with the coach there. he routinely pads the players stats, and they also make early exits from the tournament.

What really makes it funny is that those of us who have paid attention to it for the past 5 or 6 years know that it's true. Otherwise it would just seem like pileing on.
