EBC Wrestling 2024-2025

Salem vs. Carrollton tomorrow night. It will probably decide who is the EBC Champ this year. Who is favored? Best potential match-ups?

It's going to come down to who minimizes damage at weak spots more and bumps their lineup more effectively. I'll give the slight edge to Salem because they have a little more depth at a weak spot in the Warrior lineup but if the dual starts out at 106 it will put a ton of pressure on the Quakers to perform. Just looking at it this could be the most exciting dual (in terms of entertainment) in the entire history of the EBC

I can second that. Salem, a perennial bottom feeder in the EBC/NBC for what seemed like forever up until the past couple years, vs a perennial powerhouse in Carrollton. Carrollton has had a very different lineup all season. They do not typically move their guys around in duals, so it should be interesting to see if they hold true to their roots and wrestle their lineup at their respective weights.

120-150 are all going to be competitive matches. Both teams have had guys in and out of the rankings at those weights all season. Carrollton has a very deep roster, so this could explain the different lineups. Salem has only had a handful of guys at their last two showings. Not sure if this is load management/injury/illness. Should be interesting to see how the night plays out. I’m hoping both teams can come full strength. Paper trail tells you this should be Salem’s night, but I won’t count out the Warriors. They are a very disciplined group and always entertaining to watch their guys develop.

Salem- 27

The Warriors weathered the storm early and put together a string of bonus points wins from Heavyweight all the way through the rest of the dual that the Quakers couldn't seem to stop. With a performance like that I am far more optimistic about Carrolton's chances at the regional duals coming up
 
It was a great match to watch. Carrollton earned it and kudos to Salem.......the Quakers have come a loooong way.

The coach who was warned for Unsportsmanlike conduct? I have never sat around people in a gymnasium who are so confident in their knowledge of the rules but don't have clue for what they are yelling about.

What unsportsmanlike? Sounds like a minerva parent who is upset they lost again. If we had an actual ref that knew the rules, minerva wouldnt have gotten the little points that they did. Or how about when kids are flexing during the match. Nice reach though. Even carrollton double backups would have won last night.

Nice first post, new guy. The coach mis-applying the rules and going to the table multiple times throughout the night. That is unsportsmanlike by the rulebook. Not a Minerva parent... I don't have a dog in this fight. Are the "little points" your talking about, the Carrollton wrestler backing out of the Minerva wrestlers 2 on 1 tie-up? To be fair, I think the official made a mistake in the 126 match. Enlighten me to what section of the rulebook prohibits flexing after a big win?

Not new here ,got locked out of my old account . I wasnt talking about Dietrich. As i said, it was during the match, i guess you didnt catch that. as far as going to the table ,well dont stop a match when a wrestler is in a pinning combination, or how about awarding back points when a kid has been turned for the appropriate amount of time . I just find it funny everyone hates on carrollton wrestling but when it comes down to it you cant beat them.. last years seniors were unstoppable and this years sophomores are the same with some great talent from our freshman. So get use to carrollton being on top, whether you like the coach or not. Its the wrestlers that win and handle business, so stop complaining about the coach

Top of what? The EBC is a shell of conference.
 
if I counted correctly Alliance has 6 qual one alt, Marlington 3 qual, Salem 8 qual one alt, West Branch 3 Qual.

The EBC has had better showings, but a big congratulations to the qualifiers and coaches/parents. I will defend the league in saying that both Steubenville and Kenston districts have shown an increase in strength this year. By numbers, Kenston was the deepest district in Ohio.

This is still a quality performance by a conference like this, just a few dominoes went the other way this year for some kids
