Mizzou covering 95 percent of the game loses by 11 . Why play these teams in teases as well if you really like it ? Because you think it has a really good chance and it could miss the cover late and by a little ., A handful this week .

He always had them playing their best when it mattered and while they may have been out talented at times, no teams play tougher, smarter, or more disciplined than Steve’s teams. Hale was the epitome of a great high school coach. His teams were so well-coached and he was not afraid to play anyone. Liberty consistently beat teams with more talent. Tough act to follow but I bet there will be a ton of applicants.
 
Florida Atlantic may be in anyway which concerns me but this line movement towards UAB as high as -2.5 now is too much and whether it’s only 2 or 2.5. I’m taking the 5 and pairing it with Kent State + 1-1.5. So getting FAU up to 7-7.5 and Kent up to 6-6.5 is something that has value with Kent State defense I think being up to the challenge against an excellent Toledo offense ., I think pick is the line that seems more accurate in the FAU UAB so getting the full two plus the teaser boost looks live

Hale builds by that program from scratch was impressive and he kept building and at some point they were in the eyes of most knowledgeable HS fans and other HS coaches along with college recruiters and coaches interviewed and who I talked with on occasion were as well. coached as any team they were seeing .
The job he and his staff did against Coffman in the playoffs in 2018 and 2020 was outstanding . Miley the DC of course gets a lot of the credit as well .

Some have opined that Miley may come back after just one year as a HC at another school (. Westy C) and while it’s probably not going to happen , it isn’t unprecedented as Scally left Davidson to go to UA for only one year which alienated him from Brian White . He and UA actually ended a long losing streak to Davidson beating White and the Cats . White stepped down and Scalley went back over the river . Of course Miley wasn’t seen as disloyal because Westy C isn’t a rival of Liberty and Hale is a different guy than White . Be interesting to see where they go
 
Indiana has never won the big 10 conference tourney and laid an egg today . Got out of Tulane with an in game play but rode Indiana all the way and they were not good . Totals were good today . Grabbing Arizona getting some points and pairing with Grand Canyon once again getting 5-6.5 points is a good value .
 
Kansas laying down like a dog . Good plays on Kansas and Indiana yesterday . Awful plays today as both getting outplayed by teams not better with at least a few points home advantage . Teams not having to play tomorrow is sometimes better rest wise though going into next week . Still like Duke playing near home but the way these other two teams have done ? Can UVA again look better than they have in a month ? UCSB should win .

Morrison (Former Westerville Central HC) is on the Liberty staff along with his former DC from Westerville Central. Plenty of options, but Miley is already teaching in the district, knows the kids, and has had previous successful head coaching experience. If I am the AD, that is my first call....

Last year WC was 4-6 and the year before that they were 2-8. What is considered successful HC coaching experience? True they both know some of the current players not sure how beneficial that is when looking for a long term solution. However, I do agree neither one of these guys are a bad choice but do not think either one is an outstanding choice either. How old are these two guys? Curious how far they are from retirement themselves. Most teachers retire in their mid 50s like Coach Hale is doing.
 
WC was in as much of a rebuild as Coffman was in 2021 so I can't judge Morrison on that year and can't judge Miley on this past year TBH. As I said it isn't unprecedented, as Scalley left Davidson to go to UA and then came back the very next year to take over Davidson. Miley may want to forge another path at a new school and stays put to get them back to the success they had previously. Liberty will be fine going forward, but Hale is a big loss.
 
Next 5-6 days are as much fun in terms of pure handicapping , rooting for teams and possible drama as any week in sports. Nothing like the tournament. More parity than ever before , as we can see with the point spreads and the number of teams that are capable and can get to say an elite 8 or final four. Still not a ton of teams that can actually win the thing most years though.

Dayton invitational is a staple of the tourney and for these teams these are big ones. Knowing people who have gone over to Dayton to watch they say it's a good take and can be exciting. Two games tonight and I have an opinion in both. TAM CC was the top dog in the Southland conference and won their conference tourney and I got them at - 3 . SEO Missouri State was the fifth seed and were 19-13 overall. TAM CC was here last year losing to Texas Southern and that experience should help tonight.


Mississippi State -2 over Pitt- Pitt isn't that tough defensive team they were back a handful of years ago under TCU coach Dixon. Not that tough really. Have given up 85 a game the last 5 and their best interior defender Federico may be out or very limited. Miss State is the better defensive squad but are somewhat offensively challenged at times. This being said, their best option offensively the 6-11 Smith shoul drack up some numbers if Federico is out or limited.

NIT Has Hofstra grabbing 7.5 at open vs disappointed Rutgers. Teams with hopes of the NCAA tourney or thinking for a majority of the season that they were going dancing, often lay at least small eggs in their initial game after the disappointment. Money has flowed in on Hofstra who has dropped a bit and also on the over 137.
 
Two totals that looked solid and the price and action indicated as it went that way were.

Eastern Washington vs Washington State Got 151, and it has dropped to 148 or even 147.5 as of now. Still a decent play at 148 but 151 feels pretty good.
Seton Hall - Colorado UNDER 137.5 is now about 135,
 
Liberty with a lot more motivation than Villanova and this was a decent play at -3 but ML -155 was also available . Nova been banged up a lot of the year . Not sure Nova will have much left in the tank . Been a nice year and short ML favs and teaser hedges have been profitable
 
Really nice job by Liberty last night . Very good ending to the conference tourney week on Saturday night and off to a very good start in big tourney season last night. With some teasers and two ML parlays also coming in a fast start. A few games of interest tonight

Texas Southern at - 1.5 was an obvious choice to me It's ticked up to 2. Size advantage free throw rate advantage, older more veteran team Experience being here {Some teams because of extra Covid year dynamics are pretty mature } and FDU is a small team that will get beat down low and around the basket. FDU is 2-10 ATS in neutral site games. TSU by about 7-8 points I think .

ASU plays Nevada in the other play in game and the only issue I had about taking ASU was the fact that the teams most talked about in recent history the most as being fraudulent inclusions in the tourney have actually won a lot and covered the last half dozen years. Nevada's resume wasn't solid at all , and compared to ASU's it pales in comparison. Played on the ML , the game opened 1 went to 1.5 . Laid a reasonable - 125 . Nevada is 2-6 in their last 8 away from their home gym, is struggling offensively and ended the season poorly losing to a below average San Jose State team in round one of the conference tourney. The Mountain West has had a bad tourney run lately barely winning any games and since 2001 are an absurd 31 percent ATS. Almost impossibly bad.

ASU has wins against Arizona , USC, VCU and Creighton. If they can't handle a struggling team that was given a gift in terms of even getting to the play-in game [NC State and Okie State both better than this club to name just two near misses} than I pay the man and move along.
 
Something to think about even filling out your brackets . Since 1985 no number one or number two seed who was NOT ranked in the top 25 pre- season has ever even made a final four . (. Purdue and Marquette this year )
 
A lot of these NIT games tend to go OVER more than not as the teams are playing more freely with less on the line and not as fanatical defense being played in many of these games. At least not for 40 minutes .

Central Florida - Florida - OVER 143 { Now up a point or point and half}

Youngstown State - Oklahoma ST- OVER 149 - [ up to 151.5 - 152}

VA Tech - Cincinnati OVER 151.5 [Up to 153.5}

Utah Valley - New Mexico - OVER 161.5 { UP TO 163.5 } Both teams can get to 80 here

Can tease them down a bit .

Got Central Florida at 3.5 yesterday , and it is trending down, teased it with Oklahoma State who is - 5.5 as they have to play the game in Youngstown despite the Cowboys being the number one seed. The Wrestling Tournament is in Stillwater. Can't imagine no matter where the game is being played that YSU can beat this team. OSU should have been in the tourney playing in Dayton at the least instead of Nevada . Florida lost their best player previoulsy and has struggled down the stretch and I am not sure how interested they are tonight. Should be a competitive game.
 
Two late games tonight New Mexico laying 5.5 against an Utah Valley team who lost in as excruciating fashion as there is . Up 17 well into the 2nd half . Managed the last few minutes of the game as badly as imaginable including missing a potential game winning bunny ( lay up ) at the buzzer . New Mexico shouted win .

Cal Irvine travels to Eugene . The Oregon Ducks had been a really good Pac 12 tournament team ( 10 straight) but laid an egg this year ( loss for us ). Oregon laying 7.5 teased down with New Mexico should get there

Happens Say my name / LBF . 68 percent of the money was on them as well . Arizona State Central Florida Oregon and Sam Houston State ( under as well ). Did well , TS and New Mexico not so much . I can usually predict exactly when the old DB will stop by: You see this guy is really these two guys who put the emoji under most of my posts ( they stopped putting them under certain ones because they are making a statement that anything besides HS football shouldn’t be here (March is a happening time in
HS football ) as if it affects guys who don’t care or know anything about DC or CO football anyway . If I get into it a bit on the very toxic debate threads where these guys live ? Old DB usually will show up . here . Shocking I know. That’s how much they care about me i guess.

Played some of them right away Sunday night / Monday morning ) Did 2 brackets , one with a larger office pool ( 25 dollars an entry ) and one with only 16 people.( 1000 $ entry fee ) that I’ve done for 15 years now . Original price was 300.

There’s always those handful of trendy underdogs the first two days . Oral Roberts , Furman , Colgate qualifies Tina lesser extent , Iona , Vermont is seen as a team that can may be scare Marquette a bit (. Vermont once beat Syracuse in round one I want to say about 15-16 years ago , I do remember watching the game in Palm Springs eating Mexican food )

Kennesaw St qualifies as well playing Xavier .( played OVER 151 ) and this game should be fairly entertaining . Justin Fields is from Kennesaw Ga.
 
Talked about the futility of the MWC and once again last night they performed accordingly . They were given a gift last night even being able to be in that game. 31 percent against the number in 20 plus years and since 2016 this conference is 1-12 and didn’t get a win last year at all ( 4 teams all lost 😞 in round one )
