D5 Region 17

The Garaway-SR collision course continues, but each team is gonna have to really work in the semifinals to get there. Mooney and Perry are not going to go quietly into the night. IF those games happen, they should be outstanding.

I guess that's putting the cart before the horse a little. SR will have to have to play well to handle Garfield, and Norwayne could surprise Mooney with some offense. I don't think there's any chance Ridgewood upsets Garaway, though. And I don't know enough about Fairless, but I would sure pick Perry with a lot of confidence in that one.

Perry will have a running clock against fairless. Norwayne and Mooney could potentially be a tight game. I really think Norwayne with a healthy Morlock had a shot against south range and garaway.
Completely agree that losing Morlock changed that team. But can't get that meltdown against Dalton out of my mind. They literally lost their crap during the game on the field while Dalton just simply ran straight at them. Mooney's going to watch that and tell their WRs to take the weekend off.

Gill and Stanley had their best games of the year for Norwayne. Can they do it 2 weeks in a row, we'll see. When Harrison Central first came out, I thought man these kids are huge. Big lineman, tall receivers, they had a decent running back. Cats hammered them early and often. I will say that Norwayne did open the playbook some for this game, did some things they hadn't shown this season. Should be a good game in Creston Friday.

I don't think Fairless is really good bad 1st half last night
Fairless needs to celebrate their win Friday as long as they can. That was the end of their season. Down 10 to Orrville at home at half equates to a running clock after 2nd half kickoff at Perry in week 12

Magic 8 ball says “Not likely”

wasn’t Mooney losing the first quarter and went into the half up two touchdowns? That doesn’t really say unbeatable force. I’m not high on Norwaynes defense but hey it’s the playoffs anything can happen.

Mooney is not even close to the Mooney of old, however, when your talking D V... The identity of Mooney forever has been running the ball, but passing has become their go to. I saw they ran well against Edison, but again it's D V. I would think this would be a good game but Mooney playing confident football right now and looks to be poised to make a run in a so so region.

Local paper isn’t always the brightest

Paper forgot that there were games today that would affect teams' final points. They did not see that Edison was guaranteed points today that would move them past Norwayne.

People in Wayne County don't call it The Daily Mistake for nothing. Paper's official name is The Daily Record
It always been the daily mistake since I can remember. That paper is a complete joke now. I don't they have a office in wooster or any "local" reporters

If you are talking about the Mooney - Richmond Edison game, then no. The Cardinals were up 14-0 and went into the half up 21-7. They never trailed in that game.

This is pretty accurate. They are not the Mooney of old by any means, but they seem to be improving every week. Against Edison Mooney ran for 197 yards & passed for 195 yards. I don't know that I have ever seen such a balanced offensive game from the Cardinals.

I have not seen Norwayne this year, I have seen them in the past, but they are scoring a ton of points and that is a concern. IMO Mooney will need to control the ball offensively to keep that high-powered offense off the field. Finishing drives with TDs would be nice too. :)

Hopefully this will be a great game with no injuries. Good luck to both teams.

GO CARDS!

Mooney is so hard to read for this division because they really haven't play a comparable team -- the teams they played are either considerably better or considerably worse than what's left in R17. And the scores don't help. It's really annoying! Heh.

Even for Norwayne, you can kind of say CCC was two scores better than Lake Catholic and Mooney was 3 scores better than Lake Catholic and CCC and Norwayne were pretty much even, so it should be a close-ish game. But, we all know that's mostly nonsense transitive property reasoning...and that's as close as you can get to figuring out how Mooney will do in these games.

My assumption is that Norwayne will score some points, but Norwayne's defense will eventually be their undoing. Very interested to see, though.

Mooney had a chance to beat Ursuline and ended up losing by 6 I believe. Any team who hangs with them is gonna be a tough out in D5

Good breakdown Ytown! Got any info on the size of Mooneys line? I’m assuming pretty large compared to other d5 schools ha ha

Their OL is very large, but they have struggled to run the ball at times this season as they have gone to more of a passing game than Mooney teams of the past. They have had too many three and outs, penalties that put them behind the chains and critical turnovers in the redzone or that put their D in bad positions. That's not a good combination against any team but especially against a team that can score like Norwayne. If the Cardinals play their "A" game, I think they will be a tough out for any of the remaining teams in R17. If not, they can lose to any of the remaining teams. We shall soon see.

Transitive property can get you in trouble, but it does pass the smell test here. It's not so much who they've played as how the opponent plays. CCC & Dalton ran it right at them and both put up over 30 & won. Mooney might not need to attempt 10 passes in this game.

Mooney hasn’t given up more than 28 this year. …with that schedule.

Have seen some pretty bad tape on the Bobcats this year, but they still have very impressive wins. I do think Gill has the skill set to put up big numbers. He would need a sizzle reel type night, if only to distance himself farther away from week 9.

I’m feeling something like 21-14 Mooney.

I would like to see a Mooney vs SR matchup.

I think most local fans want to see that as it guarantees a local team in the regional final. I think SR will do their part, not so sure about the Cardinals. Hopefully they both make it to round three.
