D2 Boardman

Boardman invite should be a good measuring stick for not only which teams are in a good position to qualify to state, but also have a good shot at winning.

BOYS
#1 Marlington will see where their missing runner needs to be when / if he returns.

#3 Bay. A perennial power house that can really make a statement that they are the team to beat. Crushed everyone at Tiffin. Probably will be #1 or #2 at worst in the next poll.

#4 Kenston. Can they prove they belong with the top D2 teams in the state.

#5 Woodridge. Dropped in the polls after taking labor day weekend off from racing. The boys are stinging after losing to the girls in their annual labor day punt pass and kick competition. After the 4th of July tug of war debacle, the boys need something positive.

#6 Minerva.

#7 Hawken. So far, under performing. Or, playing opossum?

GIRLS

Minerva , Salem and Woodridge. Let's hope there are some other sleepers.

Division II will have Over 500 Boys and around 450 Girls in the race.
It is always a great test now that everyone has had a few races under their belt- The boy's race will be a nice test with six of the top ten in the coaches poll racing-
On the girls side, can anyone challenge the Minerva Pack- Woodridge, Salem, Hathway Brown, Tallmadge and Marlington are my picks for top six

It appears that the Salem girls are running in the D-I race. Seems odd to add a team or two when the race already had 40 schools in it.

Woodridge boys dropped to 6th in the polls. Sort of looks like they are out of it at this point. I'll put my money on Bay now.

I'm hoping Woodridge can come on strong at the end of the season and can get to state meet and somehow beat Madeira. Main focus is to try to get to that 20 straight years of making it to the state meet.

Football team was on the road last 2 weeks and won't be home again until week 9, so my best guess is homecoming dance on Sat. A 4:30pm start time isn't gonna work if that's the case. Even if it's not homecoming weekend at Salem, I wouldn't blame them or any other DII team for not wanting to race at 4:30pm.

Boys D2 Boardman
1. Marlington
2. Woodridge, they might be very close, but it's still too early in the season for them.
3. Field

So, I take it Bay is running in the D1 race?

I like the Field pick, but not if Bay is there. Is Lakeview and Field nearly the same team? Should be interesting.

We should have a better gauge of Fairfield Union after tomorrow by comparing results against common opponents from Tiffin etc...

We will know a lot about D2 just before we go to bed on Saturday night. INTERMISSION?

Nice race by Kenston. Nice group of seniors. 45 sec 1-5 .

Lakeview is making people take notice. I liked them going in.

Not sure Bay will like having to speculate on what they need to do. Muddies it up a little for them. I would think.

Marlington is still right there.

I would think that Woodridge will bump up to second or third in the coaches poll. 38 sec 1-5... 49 sec 1-7.

Nice race.

Woodridge girls had a nice day. Not sure anyone expected them to win.

Very discouraging the number of schools with incomplete teams. Austin Town Fitch boys? That can't be right. Some are schools that have a good tradition.

It was nice to see Firelands with a lot of kids on the boys team. Might be just me, but they seemed to have low numbers the past few years.

I really find it odd what teams choose to go to these big meets when there are meets that are a better fit. I can see getting on the Regional course. If you have a chance to make the Regional meet as a team or have an individual that has even an outside shot. There are interesting courses out there. Races where you don't start your scoring in the hundreds. Is Boardman "fun"?

Maybe Bay likes to leave the other teams wondering how good they are? Seems like a confident move to me.

It doesn't matter now. Woodridge took all the suspense out of D2 boys. Everyone is running for second place. Their SEVENTH was 29th. If you take out their first and third they still win. They should get all the first place votes in this week's poll. Can I bet on them via Draftkings?.

When the synth is swung it it is gonna to do some serious damage. When the reaper is healthy expect marlington to go 1-2-3 keep sleeping.

Are we talking Moog, Korg, Roland?.... Is this some D&D thing only top level nerds know about? Scythe

Marlington is still right there. Plenty of season left. I wouldn't expect any of the teams are going to get worse from hear on out. Who will improve the most?

My expectation/ experience / gut says that Woodridge will improve about 30 seconds per man on average from now until the Regional.

Marlington will improve about 15 seconds per man. (The big wild card is getting healthy) The question comes down to, can they put together a better 1,2,3 than Woodridge can put together a 3,4,5,6,7? In reality, it comes down to 3,4 5 for Marlington. 1 and 2 Can't pick up places and won't lose many, if any.

Kenston will improve about 25 seconds per man. They are right in the mix.

Bay will be next and although they didn't run at Boardman, they will get better by about 20 seconds per man from now to the end of the season.

Lakeview

Tallmadge

Field

Coventry - Not sure what has happened to them or their supporters.

Boys top teams D2.
1 Woodridge
2 Kenston
3 Marlington ( still has most potential to be #1)
4 Bay
5 Fairfield Union. ( I don't see them right now as a top 2 team. However, they could just be running to their competition. Too big a gap 1-5 IMO)
6 Lakeview
7 Minerva

Not sure I understand how the voters figure some of their choices.

#1 Woodridge. Good choice 40 second gap 1-5 , 60 second 1-7
#2 Fairfield Union. 1:50+ 1-5. Is #1 better than Marlington's #1?
#3 Marlington 1:50+ 1-5 head to head loss to Kenston.
#4 Bay good placement behind Marlington with a very close loss head to head
#5 Kenston head to head win over Marlington. Should be #3 at worst

Big course change at Woodridge / CVNP. Lake trail has been eliminated. Will be interesting to see if times will change much. First course change since going to 5k. Lake trail just too many exposed roots and erosion. Will triple the spectator viewing window.

The polls need to change to either a top 10, or 4 Regional polls. I'd like 4 Regional polls. Somehow people are voting Hawken. They are ranked higher than what they placed at Boardman! They have 61 votes. Teams that beat them by hundreds at Boardman, have 4. I think there was a week they didn't score 5 and still got votes.

Boys. NE region dominant
Woodridge
Marlington
Fairfield Union
Bay
Kenston
Lakeview
Minerva
Johnathan Alder
Shelby
Bellefontaine

Girls
Waynesville
Lexington
Woodridge
Minerva
Ottawa Glandorf
Athens
Granville
CVCA
Salem

Week 4 rankings were as close to perfect as possible for Div. II. That week had the Hathaway Brown boys team ranked 24th. I don't know if those kids quit transitioning or they just got slower but they dropped out of the rankings after that week.

That was probably Howard voting. He doesn't know what he's doing.

His strong practice of Hinduism and Buddhism seems to work though. He has Karma to Burn. Also, one of his favorite bands. The only lyrics he understands.

Field is much better than they have been showing.

The regional is going to be a heck of a race in D2. Might have 7 teams in top 10.

Marlington
Woodridge
Kenston
Field
Bay
Lakeview
Hawken
Talmadge
