Cleveland Guardians

I think it could be a good trade also. I always thought they gave up on Mr. Jones a little too soon. Hopefully he is healthy.

Nolan Jones gives them another right fielder to platoon. I sure wish they'd find a steady contributor there.

Gavin Williams is looking great in the spring. Hopefully, he's healthy and is back in form. Bibee's spring has been solid. Lively and Allen have also looked good, but I'll wait and see on them. McKenzie and Ortiz have been awful. Cecconi, the guy they got for Naylor has been hurt.

Cecconi has an injury history, which is a lot of the reason he hasn’t dented his potential. Ortiz will be in the rotation and I expect good things. Pitching in AZ in spring makes a lot of pitchers look bad. Now, I’ll contradict myself a bit here and predict Allen’s good spring will not yield good results in the regular season. I wish McKenzie could get things figured out.

It turns out they traded Naylor for a bag of balls.

I liked what I saw of Jones when he was with us as well.

I was surprised they gave up on him so easily.

Put McKenzie in the bullpen and try to get him back in form. He's out of options. In the bullpen he can focus on just a couple of pitches.

I guess Ortiz has been really bad and has been all over the place with his pitches.

We essentially traded a gold glove 2nd baseman for a pitcher who can't get anyone out...trade looking good so far.
 
I don't get the organization's infatuation with Arias. He's been a failure every time he's been given a chance.

They must not be sold on Noel or the platoon would be out the door. A little bit of plate discipline would go a long way with that guy.
 
With the 2025 season a couple days away, what's everyone's thoughts and predictions on how the Guardians will do? Any breakout stars?

I'll go with 72-90 and a third place finish in the Central. I hope I'm way off like I was last year, and the Guardians take the Central once again. Too many holes and too many question marks in too many places for me to go higher. Get your rosary beads out because we are going to need them. The good news is the Guardians have one of the best front offices in baseball so there is that. I'll be watching, win or lose.

I think it’s because Arias has all of the physical tools you’re looking for. Sometimes that’s not enough, though.

84-78. In contention for division all season and might win it. I expect Detroit, Cleveland, KC and Minnesota all in the low to mid 80’s in wins, but only the division winner makes the playoffs.

So just as I say this I went through the Spectrum channel guide, and there is a new channel, “CLEG”, channel 1306 here in NE Ohio.

It’s not active now, hopefully I won’t have to pay extra to “upgrade” to it when it is active.

I checked early this morning and Channel 177 on Armstrong HD, channel 61 on the basic package, and it still said it was not broadcasting but right now as I type this they are showing a Guardians/Oakland A's spring training game from a week ago. I checked the Channel lineup online and 177 & 61 are now listed as Cleveland Guardians TV. Hopefully they will be starting live coverage tomorrow night.

I didn't even realize I typed GO TRIBE until I just saw your post. I have tried to be careful not to do that since the name change but I typed TRIBE without thinking about it. That must be one of those Freudian slips.

I'll be at at least 20 games so I hope we do well. I expect a very competitive 4 team race. Bullpen will be a bit more human but starters might be better
