Cleveland Heights-University Heights school officials said Thursday that only the families of Heights High and Euclid football players, cheerleaders and marching band members will be allowed to attend the Friday night game “out of an abundance of caution.”

Shaker, Euclid, Heights all having issues. So, to summarize, our eastern suburbs can't even host a high school game, and one of our western/southern cities had racist signal calls...

All is going well around here.....

It's an issue in the GCC. Look in the GCC thread here if you want to be amused. A few heights guys called us out as being racist for pointing out this issue and saying it's sad. Lo and behold two weeks later , stuff predicted by another Mentor poster happened today ..

Who had racist signals and what were they?

This is going to be a massacre. I'm sure Heights will run up the score on Euclid. Mac Stephens is still salty he was bypassed for Jeff Rotsky when he applied for the Euclid job. Tonight he shows them what they are missing.

Walked around the Euclid stadium a couple of years ago. It is very unique and cool and I bet with a large crowd would be Electric.

How old is the stadium?

I did notice quite a bit of vandalism to the steel rod fence surrounding it where it looks like idiots trying to pry themselves into the stadium. That's when I realized maybe it wasn't the nicest of areas.

It opened in 2017.

To be fair, I think this is more of a Euclid issue than Heights. They haven't had an issue with hosting a home game yet this year. Euclid brought this all on when they moved their game to Brunswick (which was the right call if it was an unsafe environment). Unfortunately, if that's the case once, no district is going to send their kids there for a game if you've already admitted it's unsafe and with the proximity of the schools. Euclid is in a state of disaster as a district, and it's extremely unfortunate for the kids there that are doing everything right.

Heights wants to ensure the safety of those involved. It probably doesn't help that when they played Benedictine at Euclid last season there were plenty of extracurriculars in the parking lot after. I don't know what the answer is, but things have gotten out of hand.

What would it be like if they moved their home games to a 10AM kickoff on Saturday?

Same issues or could they avoid some of the outside issues by having the game at an odd hour like that? Not a fan of 3:30PM games on Friday nor am I fan of not letting casual fans into the game. I'm afraid this might turn into a common theme at too many schools.

The game is at Heights and not Euclid

Philly area teams regularly play at 10 or 11am on Saturday for this general reason. And have been doing it for decades.
