Cincinnati Reds Managerial Favorites?

By: Jacob Merideth-Traffic Light

I am curious who everyone thinks the Reds will go to replace Bell. I was not a fan, but I don't think he was totally to blame. I do believe it was time for a change, though. I will list some below, and feel free to add and let's discuss!

Tito Francona-Former RedSox & Indians/GurDIANS manager

Skip Schumaker-Former MLB player and Marlins Manager

David Ross-Former Reds catcher, Cubs player & Manager

Don Mattingly-Former Yankees player Dodger, and Marlins Manager

Miguel Cairo-Former Reds UTL infielder, current Front office Assistant

Freddie Benavides-Bench coach and Interim Manager

My Dark Horse-
Barry Larkin-Former Reds, Hall of Fame ShortStop, Current Reds Color Commentator

I heard from socials kinda ridiculous
-Luke Maile-Current Reds backup catcher, and KY native

Realistically, I'd say 1. David Ross 2. Skip Schumacher

I'd love Terry Francona, but I don't think his health would allow it. Had not heard Mattingly's name. I just don't think Larkin has any interest in managing. Nothing against Freddie Benevides, but if you go with him you may as well kept Bell. This clubhouse needs a significant change of direction. Not that it was bad, I just don't know how serious the group is about winning.

I would love Tito as well but I think as much as he wants to be managing again, I don't think he should. I could see David Ross but not with the Skip but the Reds are known to come out of left field with someone. Wish Dusty could come back!

Dusty would be closer to David Bell than Ross / Schumacher. We need a younger voice.

Someone with the power to force a coup at the ownership level.

That is the only way this gets fixed.

2025 Reds: Same fire, different dumpster....

Manager really doesn’t matter. The franchise needs better players, and better depth. They don’t seem to put a premium on players able to put the ball in play.

Well Skip Schumacher confirmed he will not be coaching the Marlins next year. My choice would be him or Ross. Cannot be someone already in the organization.
