LaSalle cancelled freshman football for the fall. Numbers must be down. How long before the Lancers leave GCL south for GCL north? That would leave GCL south with only three teams: St. Xavier, Elder, & Moeller. What's happening on the western side of North Bend Road?

How does a D2 school not have enough kids to field a Frosh team?
That's a good question especially with the success La Salle has had over the past decade, but weren't there seasons when some GMC schools (maybe Sycamore and Middletown) didn't have freshman football teams?

I read in another thread that someone estimated LaSalle male Freshmen incoming class was about 80-85. Not sure but that is probably in the ballpark of McNicholas incoming male number and they reportedly have 40+ Freshmen practicing right now. Makes the LaSalle situation even odder.

The Co-Ed wouldn't accept LaSalle, Moeller, or Elder. They don't want another Alter. Those schools are too focused on athletics and not the entire picture (academics, faith, service, integrity, etc.)

St. X would get a bid if they were ever in this situation but they don't seem to have the same participation issues.

My sources tell me that the incoming LS class is 84.

Next year's class is projecting over 100 for them, but I think that is a big stretch. As more and more Elder families grow up in the traditional LS feeders it will be hard for LS to stay open in their current business model.

LaSalle, Moeller and Elder all have their primary focus in Academics, faith, service, etc. Your information is wrong.

The alumni may be a different story, but the administration in all those schools are there to advance Catholic education not to win a sports contest.

Not true of any Catholic school, if so, requiring students to attend mass weekly or upholding Catholic teachings would be a top priority, but it's not at any Catholic school.

Not if you're a HS kid who can dunk a basketball. All of them claim the same thing but not all of them walk the walk.

St. X, Fenwick, Mcnick, and Badin are the schools in SWO I would point out that do an exemplary job of staying true to their commitment as a school and maintaining outstanding athletic programs.

If LS did indeed cancel their freshman team, then that will kill them in the PR department. They've been trying to change their perception of mis-management for years.

Your info is bad. LaSalle has a freshman team. They were on the field today. Stop believing everything you hear coming out of Forest Park. Lancers take R8 this year. Keep sleeping on us.

Hasn't La Salle won close to 50% of the state championships in football since moving to D2?
As would any of the GCL South schools if they moved down.

Is it really that impressive to be able to compete at the D1 level and then drop down and win D2? It certainly takes some clout off of it.

What exactly do you mean? What are Elder and Moe doing to not walk the walk.

Not saying you're wrong, just curious as to your reasoning.
Allowing athletes to miss class, not participate in community service days, miss weekly mass, etc.

I know this to be true at Moe and I've heard from Elder people that the culture is similar but don't know Elder well enough to confirm any specific examples.

Honestly, depending on how the ed choice situation plays out, you may see everyone all together again.

Oh this is definitely true. There are some at Elder, depending on their family and friend affiliation, who play by a completely different set of rules.

Many connected family and friend groups connected to the power players do as they please and use Elder sports as their family and friend playground. A whole bunch of Elder people will say I'm crazy, but it definitely has some skin, and alot of people are sick of it.

Would LaSalle have better numbers if they went Coed (not the league the females)?. I don’t know. Just asking.

Catholic school enrollments are about to change for the better. No need to make decisions like that based on what’s going on now when drastic changes are around the corner

Happy to finally see a La Salle fan comment about this. In the past week, 3 separate threads have been posted (by a Moeller fan, a Winton Woods fan and this one by a Youngstown Ursuline fan) saying La Salle canceled their freshman football season.
