Cin. Mt Notre Dame in tough times

MND won four straight state D1 titles from 2006 - 2009. In 2010, they dropped to 13-10. The slide continued last season, with a losing record of 8-14. This season the Cougars dropped their first two games, including a 74-33 beating at Centerville tonight. Centerville is ranked #4 in the DDN poll.

Quite a sudden drop off for what was a dominate program.

For the most part it is also goes in cycles for the catholic schools. One will be the "volleyball school", one will be the "soccer school", and one will be the "basketball school". Then a few years later it is all switched around again....

And I don't disagree that when you are at a catholic school there is some recruiting that goes along with it....especially when open houses roll around...

Agreed...do you think its any coincidence that the top 5 in the city right now are all GMC schools? ;)

The power has undeniably shifted to the GMC, but the Top 10 poll
is a popularity contest. All coaches vote their own conference members
high to look good. But there is no doubt, the GMC at the top is
tough and better than the others....

MND's release of Dante made the statement that they didn't want to be a basketball power house, a "basketball school" but I believe the volleyball team won state. They are a good school, they speak to what the catholic school is suppose to be about so they will rebuild in basketball, it will just take time.

GMC is a power house this year, but Keith Starks will build Ursuline to a power house and MND will follow, and yes recruiting will be a major way to do it, kids will follow their AAU friends so the kids really recruit themselves in a way. It does take some getting use to MND not being mentioned as a power house with what Dante did for them, but then again it's a limited following when the fee is $11000.00 - $13000.00 for HS.

I saw Ursuline play last weekend and they did not look in sync at all. It may take a bit of time. At this point, it looks like this year the GGCL will be between SUA, Mercy & McAuley.

I disagree. I think he was released because of issues with his conduct. And don't forget, the program was built by Dr. Scott Rogers, who won titles at MND in 2004 and 2006.

Isn't it ironic that traditional powerhouse MND is looking awful and traditional celler dwellar Withtrow is looking promising.

Can anyone say DANTE HARLAN !!!!!!!!!

Naw baby Naw

I will say it again for everyone listening. Saw it 1st hand.
Recruiter and Motivator: Doc Rogee
X's and O's: Dante follow me to Withrow.
It was his conduct that finally caught up with him.
Say what you want, Catholic schools will not put up with that, even if the results are your BBall program going to the pooper. And yes they will be back someday.
Yes, GMC schools are at the top of polls now but know one remembers who was winning at half time. Lets see what they do in Tourney

Why in the world would anyone drudge this stuff up again?
Here are a couple of suggestions for you, Valeriespence. If you don't like the topic, don't read it. This is Yappi's board, and he kept the thread. If you want to censor others, become a moderator or start your own board.

I'm thankful no one started a thread on the things I did wrong three years ago.
It was less than two years ago.

How is this related to this thread?
Because Dante Harlan coached MND to their last three state championships and C.C. posted "It was his conduct that finally caught up with him." I was offering some history to C.C., but apparently a few of you would prefer to keep it burried.

Why in the world would anyone drudge this stuff up again? Unbelievable! I'm thankful no one started a thread on the things I did wrong three years ago and kept posting the link again and again.

MOVE ON!

We're not talking about a technical foul...we're talking about a lunatic stripping off his shirt and threatening to kill another coach. Actions like that should be remembered.

Here are a couple suggestions for YOU! Stop bringing up shtuff that happened in the 2009-2010 season. And I'm sorry, was this thread started to talk about Dante Harlan???? Or was it talking about MND???? You should be ashamed of yourself. Grow up! Who cares why Harlan is gone? THAT has nothing to do with this thread.

If I were a moderator you wouldnt be posting on here.

Being perfect must be a b****!

And seriously? Offering a YAPPI THREAD as a resource? That thread is an incoherent mess of rumors, assumptions and opinions. How could anyone come out of that thread with anything of substance? I'm sure that thread just cleared things right up for anyone who was wondering why he left.
"incoherent mess of rumors, assumptions and opinions?" Let's see, you have been on here for less than three months and have a grand total of 44 posts. So you insult Yappi members, especially the 50 or so who posted on the Dante Harlan thread. Keep it up!

To the topic. I think coach Main is doing a great job there with those young ladies. I wish him and MND the best of luck going forward. He will get them going again.

That thread was a joke. All 50 of you who posted on that thread should be ashamed of yourself, as well. You using that thread as a resource is a joke.

You got your way. This thread ended up just the way you had hoped. You started with a comment about MND and now you have someone calling him a lunatic, homicidal, stripper. Congratulations.

Again, I dont understand why this one incident keeps coming up over and over again. The man has done SO MUCH good and people just have to look for the bad.

The saddest part about that thread is if someone was interested in their child playing for him or in him training their child with him, they would google his name and see that thread. I know for a fact that HAS happened. They would see a thread where many people who werent even there said what they "heard" happened and the people that WERE there couldnt even agree what they saw. Now what does that tell you?

You got your way. A person saying horrible things about Dante. Pat yourself on the back and start another thread.

And just because I have been on here for "three months and 44 posts" (thank you for the stats there) has nothing to do with this. Just because someone has been on Yappi for years doesnt give them any more credibility than someone who has been on three months.
Since you seem upset that someone called Coach Harlan a lunatic, homicidal, stripper, why not direct your comment to that person and not me?
