Chriss Somerlot (Centerville) - RIP

This hasn't been mentioned here yet, but definitely needs to be communicated.

With heavy heart, I bring you the news of Mr. Chriss Somerlot's passing on 14 August. To say that he contributed heavily to the development of student athlete throwers at Centerville HS and greater SW Ohio in general is a huge understatement. I can't add anymore than that.

OATCCC hall of famer. Olympic coach. I met this man many times and he is one of the greatest coaches/human beings of all time.

When I was Sophomore in high school, my brother who was a very good discus thrower in high school but 11 years older than I was and threw against Mr. Somerlot. Arranged for me to go and practice with him and his team during district and regionals. He was so open and caring. He knew I wanted to be the best I could so he coached me like I was one of his own. Thank you Criss, I will always tell this story because he loved his sport.
