The Canton City school BOE unanimously approved the $370,920 purchase of 22 Open gate Concealed Weapons Detectors from Communications Technologies that will be installed at 5 middle schools and high schools.

"Weapons detection systems are in use throughout our community....at sporting events, hospitals and courthouses," Superintendent Jeff Talbert said.

The walk through detectors will be installed at multiple entrances at STEAMM Academy, Hartford, Early College @ Lehmen, Crenshaw, the Timken Career Campus and Canton McKinley HS.

The devises will detect guns, knives and other weapons such as brass knuckles.

Board member Kim Brown added that she is constantly worried about the safety of the city schools as violence continues to grow.

Hand held weapon detectors will be purchases for the.... ....ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.... ....on an as needed basis.

You posted this because you’re angry at a troll posting something about Massillon but what you fail to realize that Canton people are not embarrassed by this. It’s ok to put egos aside for the protection of the kids.

Haven’t you been asking Canton to do something to help protect the kids for a while?

This post isn't about what CCS are doing as much as its about what the city of Canton has become. I'm sure the schools are doing what they deem necessary....due to the fact that the Canton parents, police and judicial system has neglected doing what's necessary for years.

Helped in a neighborhood clean-up some years ago. The area around one of the school entrances obviously hadn't been cleaned in a long while. Some of the wooden handles had rotted completely.

As a kid in the 70s, a few of the schools had weapons detectors. They were called "nuns." Surprisingly effective. They just knew. Even if you didn't go to school there.

He’s just trying to deflect the attention away from the story that has broke the last couple of days involving their program.

Yes, this is the first time I've ever brought up the rampant gun violence in Canton.
