Bo Basset to commit this Tuesday

There it is. Wonder what the $$$ looks like. Excited to see what the Brands can do for him!
I don't see the Brands brothers as great (or even very good) developers. But Bo will get the development he needs. He's smart enough to do that. Iowa is just a financial nest egg and a pulpit for him. It's a pretty good fit IMO.

Bo, like Spencer a decade ago, was a big time Iowa guy for years. Gotta wonder about Jax, Herring and Miller and whether they join Bassett in Iowa. Okie State grabbing Dreshaun Ross out of Iowa- PA guys to Iowa, Iowa guys to Oklahoma State, top Ohio guy to Penn State. I think regionality and going to your "local" school means extremely little to guys now.

Very few, if any, Buckeyes have the social media reach and wrestling "fame" Bassett does. His information is higher priority than almost any wrestler on the planet right now, and that is not exaggerating either. He has that big of a reach on social media, plus his overseas wrestling. I may think that Blaze and Duke are better wrestlers, and maybe even Jax too. None of those guys will have a bigger impact on the sport than Bo will, just from growing the sport, changing the game of recruiting, and NIL deals. He has given future wrestlers a blueprint on how to grow their own brand. Even if other wrestlers have better college resumes, he will make a larger lasting impact on wrestling and whatever program he chooses to go to.
My comment was, 'tongue in cheek' and a bit rhetorical but appreciate the sincerity in your answer... ✌️

Bassett is really really good, but I honestly think the hype train on the kid has obviously been created by the social media storm that his family helped create (along with the help of FLOWRESTLING). Do I think he is elite? yes...do I think he is better then a Taylor/ Stieber/Metcalf/Dustin Schlatter/Palmer x2/Roger Chandler/Alan Fried/Jeff McGinness (just to name a few) in high school? No, I think they would have faired well against him (again, my opinion). Yes I know it was a different time etc etc, and technique has evolved.

Social media makes a kid seem to be the next unbeatable college wrestling machine, when the reality is they are potentially no better than what we have already seen in many ways, just the "legend" is being spread in a different manner compared to 20-25 years ago (word of mouth and only youtube).

Rank the top five?
Probably not qualified to do so, but in no particular order, I think Penn State, Rob Koll (wherever he has been), Schwab, Ohio State (for the lower weights, at least), Pat Pop, and Cornell all do a better job than Iowa IMO. I am probably leaving out others. This is just an opipnio, so feel free to fire away.

It's too early to predict DT at Ok St., but I'd bet he'll be great.
