(This was sent to me by a friend whose chid goes to Marist. It reminds me of when Dustin Horter of Lakota East was going for the 4-minute mile at Mason not too many years ago. Hard to believe only 19 USA students have broken the 4-minute mark, but it shows how tough a challenge it is. I'm hoping it's streaming somewhere.)

Be Part of History—Cheer on Marist Athletes at Friday’s Marist Mile

Marist School is a place where athletic excellence thrives. With 23 Director’s Cup wins in the past 25 years, we’ve established ourselves as Georgia’s top athletic program. Our tradition of excellence includes state championships, nationally ranked teams, and standout athletes—and this Friday, you have the chance to witness history in the making.

Join us at 5 p.m. on Friday for school’s first Marist Mile, a thrilling evening of mile-long races featuring some of the best runners in the region. The night will culminate in a marquee race showcasing Tommy Latham ’25, the most decorated runner in Marist and Georgia state history. Tommy, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation in the mile, is aiming to break the elusive four-minute barrier—a feat accomplished by only 19 runners since 1965.

This is your chance to be part of something truly special. Let’s pack Hughes Spalding Stadium with roaring Marist fans and give Tommy the energy he needs to make history. Concessions will be open, and the excitement will be unmatched. Don’t miss it! See you Friday night!
