Astros: New York writer confirms Jose Altuve didn’t cheat

Love Altuve. He was never treated fairly throughout any of the "scandal".

Knee-jerk reactions, false accusations, and conspiracy theories about "buzzers" have littered the internet for a couple of years - positive news doesn't make the rounds like negative news does, so I'm just doing my part to make the world a better place. ?

I thought it was pretty cool a few weeks ago when the Astros went into Yankee Stadium and he hit a 3-run jack.
The New York crowd chanted "F**k Altuve" on his birthday. Good people. (y)

The ball was practically in his eyes:

Please don't be one of these people. Lots of rated R language here:

I don't think this is going to help Altuve or the Astros at all. He personally engaged in cheating when he knew the rest of his team was doing it and allowed it to continue. His stats are still rigged because those before and after him in the lineup benefitted from cheating which allowed him to pick up RBIs, they wouldn't pitch around him and etc.

The fact that he didn’t cheat doesn’t help him in a cheating scandal? LOL, ok.

“He allowed it.” LOL. Yes, Altuve the 27 yearl old policeman of the Astros who barely spoke English allowed it under his watch. Covered in the article. I’m sure you report every malfeasance you see in life. But of course, you again are just speculating. You have no idea what he told to whom or didn’t tell.

RBI’s? Anyone who knocked in a PED user or scored a run because of a PED user etc. bears no responsibility for any inflation to their numbers. Same with spitball pitchers and other cheats over the years- we accept that Ruth, Williams, Mays, Musial, etc struck out X number of times but the truth is pitchers have always been cheating to get guys out (and they’re still doing it). We have to accept that there are virtually no untainted numbers in the sport.
For the record, in 2017 Altuve hit 46 RBI’s on the road vs 35 at home. If the enormity of the sign-stealing is of such epic proportions, there’s no reason for it to have had a NEGATIVE effect on Altuve’s numbers. Logically, there should be an uptick in the data. But there’s not. Maybe I don’t understand how cheating works.

We know very little about the frequency of the alleged sign stealing. We really don’t know very much about this garbage can operation outside of a handful of anecdotal videos. There’s a lot of hearsay and rumors to sort through and official information is somewhat scarce. What we know is Altuve’s current 130 OPS+ is on the high side for his career. But bitter people want their pound of flesh, even if they have to go after the innocent to get it.

It's not going to matter to the public. Nobody cares his book's coming out. It's not getting national media. The story has been told and decided in the court of public opinion. Altuve will get will hear the chants the rest of his career.

Yeah I definitely agree with that.
