That just cannot be good news for any other DIII schools in the state. great news for SW DII members though.
Summit and CCD won’t be happy. That just cannot be good news for any other DIII schools in the state. great news for SW DII members though.
Couldn't agree more. OHSAA needs to fix this problem. There is way too much disparity in enrollments in the lower part of D-1 and the upper echelon. It could easily be fixed by eliminating the equal number of teams in each of the three divisions blueprint...and going to a smaller D-1 grouping....say 500 and up in D-1......and then split up D-2 and 3 with the remaining teams. D-2 and D-3 would have many more teams...but when you look at the fairness of competition....the differences in enrollments are much more logical than sending a 329 enrollment school like Bellbrook against schools with more than 3 times their enrollment. Same can be done with basketball and Volleyball. Both have much unfairness between the lower parts of D-1 and the huge D-1 schools. This mostly applies to D1/D2 flip flop teams and smaller D1 teams that never flop. Why are teams with 325 competing with 1000+, when D2 and D3 teams have a range less than 200??? A sport where you have to field 11+ solid players to excel has three divisions where 5+ solid players in basketball is the sweet spot and they have four divisions. I know that the cutoff in D1 soccer is similar to basketball and there are less soccer teams in the state, but doesn't the amount of talented athletes needed to field a contending team ever come into play when amount of divisions are considered?
Actually Rocky River is the smallest D1 team with 1 less girl than Bellbrook and 1 more than the largest D2 school, Tiffin Columbian. (Bellbrook is 2 more than the largest D2 school). And Bellbrook...who should be very good, is the smallest D-1 team in the state, missing by one person being a D-2 team.
