Well, I came across some new info on all-time great and 1924 Olympic broad jump (a.k.a., long jump) champion, William DeHart Hubbard.

It seems the Ohio HS record in the outdoor long jump was held by Mr. Hubbard before passing hands from Ed Cook (Chillicothe - 23' 5" - 1906) to Jesse Owens (East Tech - 23' 10 1/4" - 1932). It seems that Mr. Hubbard had a previously missed jump of 23' 6" to win the Ohio AAU @ Dayton on 11 June 1921, the summer of his senior year at Walnut Hills. That jump beat back Ohio State's FB/track great Gaylord "Pete" Stinchcomb (Fostoria - 1916).

Never a dull day in track & field history research!
