Watching Alter vs Carroll last night reminded me of why futbol is in fact, the "beautiful game". The match was extremely well played by both teams. Alter's strategy of packing it in on defense was brilliant. They were still a threat offensively with McCarthy and Royer making several great runs. Both goalies made several excellent saves. Carroll's offense was fun to watch, but just couldn't find the back of the net. This is a great rivalry game with lots of good physical play. Playing 110 minutes with no score is a tribute to both defenses and goalies. In the end, Alter won 5-4 on PK's. I thought both teams showed a lot of class, really congratulating each other after the match with guys hugging each other (only manly hugs). Good luck to Alter on their run to state.
