Carrol and Finegan on 2nd team blew my mind...they should've easily been first! In division 2, Drake Peterson also somehow made 2nd team!

wow logan swinney over finegan. thats gotta be the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen. and why no koepfle on midfield?

I really believe Swinney deserved it, but I don't see how Bauer or Kamp got it over Carrol or Finegan.

And then I saw this somewhere...(All-Americans are for the North only)

Academic All-Americans:
Jay Laing (Middie-St. Charles)
Dan Fosselman (Middie-Westerville South)
Ron Erdelyi (Attack-Toledo SJJ)

Scholastic All-Americans:
Max Schmidt (Defenseman-UA)
Brian Zwick (Middie-Dublin Scioto)
Jordan Bowdy (Attack- Dublin Coffman)
Jud Hall (Goalie-UA)
Scott Lathrop (Middie-UA)
John Brelus (Defenseman-Worthington Kilbourne)

Division-1 Awards: ("Position Player of the Year")
ATTACK: Jordan Bowdy (Dublin Coffman)
DEFENSEMAN: Max Schmidt (UA)
GOALIE: Jud Hall (UA)
LSM: Dan Crawford (UA)
MIDDIE: Brian Zwick (Dublin Scioto)

Player of the Year: Max Schmidt (UA)

Coach of the Year: Bill Taylor (St. Charles)

Man of the Year: Bill Wolford (Worthington Kilbourne)

OHSLA Tournament MVP:
Offense: Grant DeVilbiss (UA)
Defense: Jud Hall (UA)

With the northern bias in voting (their votes outnumber ours), I really believe there is only one player who has a small shot at 1st Team All-Ohio, and that's Bowman. The highest anyone else from the south can recieve is 2nd team.

Congrats to all the honorees for All Region! A great group of players to be sure.

Absolutely agree w/ goalie selections- Huster for Moe and Osbourne for West played some incredible games throughout the season. Krall also played very well for IH in games I was able to catch.

Middies also look like good choices although I think Kuechly from X probably deserved 1st team. Kid played great in the faceoff role and is a workhorse on defense. Another guy who deserves mention is Bruce for Moe who played some great games particularly on defense- very similar to Albrink. I would have given him the nod over Bolser who looks like a player to be but still needs to tune his d-skills and make better shot selections IMO.

Solid group of d-poles with no surprises. IDK about Powell for Moe- he played some LSM early but did shift later in the season.

Got to wonder though on attack how all 3 starters for X make All Region but not all 3 starters for Moeller. All 3 Moe starters had over 60 points with nice mix of goals and assists (like 40/ 20 for Finegan, Bauer and Hofricter) and took the team to final four and Midwest title. Got to give the nod to Carroll and Swinney as seniors but not sure Stanislaw AND Kamp were as consistent over full season. And if I remember right, I thought Moe beat X twice this year...

I agree with everything you said, except for the selection on the d-poles. I still have no idea who Ross Lockwood is, and I was also a bit taken back that he even made 1st team. McFarland was their main defender from what I saw, and the rest of IH's d-poles looked big and athletic, but that's about it. I would've given the nod to Hubbard from Moeller or Stremming from West...

Here's my theory, however, on how Finegan didn't make 1st team: during the voting, the coaches thought "oh, well, everyone else is going to vote for him and he's going to be 1st team anyway, I'll just vote for someone else to spread the rep around."

....same with Carrol as well, and I really think that's the most logical answer.

Laxplayer, that could be the situation, i mean the kid gets 1st team all state as well as 1st team all midwest but yet 2nd team all region. Oh well, congrats on a great season to him, im sure colleges will look past that

Do you know the All-Ohio selections? Because I didn't know they were out, and I also thought that in order to be nominated for all-state, you had to make 1st Team All-Region...or at least that's how it was last year.

All-Americans, however, were announced, but I won't post those because I'd rather the players find out from their coaches/OHSLA rather than a sports forum.

No, i dont know the all state selections. But the OHSLA did indeed make a mistake on Finegan, Stanislaw, and Carroll. They were actually first team all region. The OHSLA Commissioner called Coach Kennedy today and informed him of the mistake.

Ha Ross Lockwood was a great D Pole.. Shut down many of cincinnati's best attck the whole year.. both Macfarland and Lockwood deserve first team.. U must not know much about region four if u dont know Ross

Very good point unstoppable. R4LaxFan its a good thing you know who lockwood is now because hes a player to watch next year...and OHSLA just changed Finnegan to 1st team Stainslaw and Carrol are still listed as 2nd team.

i know it's only club but Nick Sulken of Elder is number one goalie all regional.....pretty remarkable for a kid who has been playing lacrosse for only 3 months

None of IH's d-poles shut down West's attack, including Swinney. They (IH d-poles) were big, but couldn't match feet, but maybe it was just for that game.

So I take it that everyone who made 1st team before-hand is now 2nd or something like that? I saw that Finegan got changed to 1st, so congrats to him (even though he already deserved it).

wow...grant hunter all american? i mean the kids alright but hes no all american, when we played lakota west i honestly didnt even know which kid he was cause i saw no one that stood out as a force to be reckoned with, and if im not wrong any one that is even thought about being an all american is indeed a force to be reckoned with...that kid got torched all night, but what ever just my opinion

Indian Hill game right? High school lacrosse is done for me, so I don't really care if people know who I am or not on yappi anymore (but lets be honest here, my username is incredibly obvious!), and I'll be the first one to admit that the Indian Hill game this year was by far one of my worst games of my high school career (just because of the 1st quarter). I didn't know who Nick K. was, and I also didn't think that anyone on IH's attack was anything special, and I was wrong. Nick's first possession caught me totally off-gaurd, as he was incredibly fast, same with his 2nd.

After the 1st quarter is when I got my head into the game. I took the ball away from him on his next possession, and he didn't score again all night, nor did he get a step on me again. His two goals came from the 1st quarter (one was when they were man-up and the other was something else), and if he had a third, I wasn't on him at the time. So no, I didn't get "torched all night", just the 1st quarter, and I'll be the first to admit to that. Nick is a great player, and I came out and totally overlooked him.

Actually, now that I think of it, out of all of high school games against Indian Hill, I've played really bad. It's like a curse or something

Congratulations to Jarred, John and Grant on their AA achievements. I agree fully with these selections based on having seen all of them play multiple times this season. Any arguments come from folks that have some other agenda. The only other guy that consistently stood out game in and game out as a possible Southern Ohio selection was Noah Gibby from Mariemont who was a captain and led his team to a DII State Championship; however, the three selections were indeed legit. Good work boys!

Noah Gibby is one ---- of a player and a great guy. I expect to see his name pop up on the score sheets when he gets down to Roanoke :thumb:

he was one of Moeller's two d middies and he lined up for wing play on face offs, he was second in groundballs on the team adn had a few assists

Congrats

Congratulations to all 3 Southern Ohio All Americans! I too have to agree that these were great selections. Bowman had a great season for Moe, taking on a big leadership role, scoring in key situations and racking up big numbers despite being on every team's radar after last season. Hunter played outstanding D in the games I saw this year. He did a solid job shutting down Moe's Finegan in both games and does his job without a lot of fancy checking or flashy play... just solid position, great hustle and solid stick skills. Saelinger for X has led that team's midfield for past 2 years and like Bowman came up big in key games and situations. All 3 guys are solid leaders, examples, and players. Best of luck to all of them in their college careers.

Not sure on the gripe about 2nd team though... All 3 are R4 1st team selections and made 2nd team all Ohio. Given the strength of the Columbus programs and heavy voting influence this isn't unexpected. Cinci has to represent a little stronger vs. R1 and R2 if they want more respect in All State selections-- this wasn't a bad year with X win vs. Kilbourne and Moe's wins vs. TW and Coffman. But still a lot in the loss column vs. UA, Jerome, etc. and Westerville doesn't count for much (particularly if you lose).

Great season and congrats to all the award winners:clap:

5 points total in the two games is getting shut down?

Given Finegan's goal tally for the season- holding him to a single goal in 2 games is not bad... he had 4 assists but expect he was frustrated by that. He couldn't make his typical quick moves to the goal or get clean shots so had to settle for dumping to Bauer and Hofricther who had big games vs. Lakota.
