2122 St. Ignatius

Very cool to see Mason play against Ignatius, on the road no less. Are these the only two D1 programs in the state that have ever boasted undefeated state and fall national championship seasons? I have no idea, but would imagine that's likely the case.
North Olmsted went 25-0 for the 1985 title beating Centerville; not sure if there were national rankings back then. I think it's the only title game where both teams were undefeated going into the game final.

Hudson 2002 (I believe) would also be in that category.

Gahanna Lincoln (led by then former youth national team and the future full national team player, Will Trapp) was undefeated and #3 in the nation when they faced undefeated #1 in the nation St. Ignatius. Game went scoreless to penalties…won by Lincoln. Only state championship game defeat (against numerous victories) for St. Ignatius. I’m not sure if Lincoln ended the season #1 or #2 (St. Benedict’s?).

The Elks meet their third out of four shared opponents of the year with Ignatius; they're playing Cols St Charles. What can Centerville expect from this team that the Wildcats beat 4-0?

7-2 over Jackson. Looks like the 2 goals were given up late after game was well in hand.
Team heads to NJ for their big test this weekend - including St Benedict’s, who is always near the top of national rankings.

For St Benedict’s game 80% chance of rain near 1 inch or more expected and windy. I’m working in NJ so I still might head up for this game. Give the cats some support.

Remnants of Ian? They are also scheduled to play at Chaminade the next day at 1.

Big match tomorrow vs. St. Benedict's Prep at Montclair State (NJ)
Weather conditions are iffy with the downgraded Ian coming through northern NJ during the morning.
Temps - mid 50s, 40% probability of rain showers and 15 mph wind.

Previous matches:
2018: St. Benedict's 3 Ignatius 1 (at Montclair St.)
2019: Ignatius 2 St. Benedict's 2 (at CSU)

According to TopDrawer soccer, "Every season but one since 2010, either St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) or St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio) have finished No. 1 in the boys soccer fall FAB 50."

Thanks for introducing me to another high school soccer rankings. So St. Benedicts might just be the game of the year for Ignatius,
I was at the Ignatius - St. Benedict's Prep match in 2019. The Gray Bees are very, very good. An historically strong program, the Wildcats lost to them in 2018. After the match, coach McLaughlin was quoted "I've been coaching high school soccer for 20+ years, and we've traveled all over the country. This team is, without a doubt, the best high school team a Saint Ignatius team has ever played against,"

More hype

In addition to St. Benedict's Prep (Newark NJ) on Oct.1, the Wildcats host Calvert Hall (MD) on Oct. 8

Is this game streaming anywhere? Love watching these two giants battle.

They couldn't find a ref under 90 years old that can run for this game? Or maybe that had a different color shirt than the Ignatius team?

Good Lord.

Wildcats are now ranked #2 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches high school rankings.
The Cats defeated Western Reserve Academy 3-1 yesterday

On Saturday at noon, the Wildcats host Calvert Hall (Towson MD), ranked #4 nationally
