2023-24 Federal League Baseball

Final
Jackson 3
GlenOak 0

Jackson is district champions! (Phone died so message is delayed) They will advance to the regional semifinals to most likely play Hoover!
Nice. If it is Hoover, should be a good one. Couple of one run loses by Jackson to Hoover during the regular season sets the stage for a good one.

Jackson and GlenOak are playing their makeup regular season game right now, if Jackson wins they win the Federal League.

Jackson should and I believe is playing pretty relaxed, no point in risking any injuries with a looming Regional Semifinals game upcoming.

Best of luck to the Polar Bears and Vikings. A post-season Jax/NCH matchup is always a classic. Not sure how they're doing baseball next year with division assignments, but I know it looks like there will be no more basketball games after the regular season between them going forward. Could be one of the last times these teams meet up in the post-season unfortunately.

Jackson down 1-0 to Hoover in in the bottom of the 3rd, Jackson batting. Jackson has struggled at times this year to get offense, they NEED to put something together.

End of 3
Hoover 1
Jackson 1

Jackson ties it up with an RBI single, moving to the top of the 4th!

Hard to fathom that a school that not too long ago won over 50 Federal Leagues games in a row has now lost 3 straight games in one year to one Federal League team. Tough loss for Jackson but good luck to Hoover the rest of the way. Seems like Jackson has not been the same since the Covid year.

Jackson still won a share of the league title and won their district. What's hard to fathom about Hoover having a great team this season?

Like I mentioned above, Jackson just a few years back won 55 straight league games, this year they lost three to one team. Really hard to beat a team 3 times in one season in any sport. In past years, Jackson had been very successful in close games. No doubt Hoover had a good team this year. I’ll stand by my point that since Covid Jackson has not been the dominant team they had been starting in 2014. Some uncharacteristic early tournament exits and not nearly as dominant in league play.

I also believe that Jackson’s high level of play has elevated the other teams. The more you play against the same players, summer ball, etc., the more comfortable you are playing against opponents. Hoover has historically had a strong program and lost some really tight games to Jackson during the streak..

That’s a really good call out!

There's probably some truth to the Covid stuff but that's every school. It's a rivalry game. It seems like when Jackson goes on basketball/baseball tournament runs they always have to get by a good Hoover team late. They were bound to drop one sooner or later.

The League should be pretty interesting the next couple of years. Hoover returns most of their team. Ashby will be hard to replace. But the pitcher who will be a Junior is pretty good. I think Jackson has the big pitcher back who will be a pitcher.
Looks like the league might come down to Jackson and Hoover. But with baseball it's hard to tell. Did they extend the season? It seems like when I played the State tournament was earlier.
