2021-2022 Elder Basketball

Based on their history of ranking GCL teams, don't see it as well. also the GMC may use that as their reasoning that that Moeller is down this year (compared to their standards") so beating them may not be that big of a deal. A win at Moeller by a good margin & drill St X again may strengthen their argument.

The Turpin loss is also significant as it exposed Elder's dependency on Keller's scoring. Quick/tall guards could give Elder fits in the tourney. That was the turning point in the Centerville game last year. The mistake was not being able to get the ball to Larkin because they didn't have an answer for his scoring in the post. Post play & controlling the boards will determine how far they can make a run.
And Elder would have an argument they just beat x by 20, who beat FF.

Elder lost to a team that hasn't beaten anyone of significance. Didn't Turpin lose to Lasalle?

Maybe the public schools would take that into consideration if it was "one of their own" but no matter how you look at it, it is a bad loss

Would one bad loss really impact their seed that much over a 20+ game season if they ended with only 3 or 4 losses and win GCL? Especially with one of their best players not even playing. Everyone knows a full Elder squad is better than Turpin.

If that's the case, why wouldn't the St X loss hurt Fairfield just the same? St X isn't that good either.

Technically, they won by forfeit.

4- Elder 17-3 or 16-4
5- Walnut 19-1
6- Moeller
7- X
8- Turpin
9- Princeton
10- ???????????

1- Centerville
2- Fairmont (Who is good)
3- Wayne

Next big game for Elder comes next Tueday as Cooper High School comes to the pit. Huge game for the panthers, as it could turn this somewhat disappointing season around for them. Any thoughts on how they can pull off a win??? Keep in mind they have plenty of time to prepare for this game, and should focus all of their attention to next tueday...

I think they should at least show up for the Moeller game on Friday and play Keller and Harp in the first half only and have them totally healthy for the big Cooper match

NBD, just trying to win at Moeller where they haven’t done so since 2006. Even that game, they had a massive comeback and only won by hitting a 3 at the buzzer

Elder would be guaranteed a share of GCL with a win over Moeller Friday. That would set up a chance to win it outright at home the following Friday vs. Lasalle. That will be quite a celebration. A loss either game would most likely have to wait until the 11th at home against X to win it outright.

Would it make sense to play 3 GCL games, and then a 4 team bracket to determine the GCL Title to avoid the dumb shares?
Elder is 3-0
Moeller 2-1
St. Xavier 1-2
Lasalle 0-3

Why not have
#1 Elder vs. #4 Lasalle at Elder.
#2 Moeller vs. #3 St. Xavier at Moeller

The winners play for the GCL title in a conference championship game at a Neutral court or at the higher seeded team's court.

No, it wouldn’t make sense.

I agree, this is likely the best course of action. Moeller is just another game, while this Cooper game is going to be quite the clash and is far more important. Any score predictions??? (for the cooper game that is)

IDK how it looks near Kenwood but by me the non main roads were pretty bad.
I didn't notice how much more snow we got throughout the day. They could have called it off, but Moeller plays Centerville tomorrow, so wouldn't have been able to make it up tomorrow. Probably makes it an easier decision to just go ahead with it tonight, especially since seems to have finally stopped now.
