Tale of the Tape:

Indian Lake: 8-2: Champions of the CBC Toddler Division, or as some call it, the Mad River Division. They lost to Anna and the OSU QB led Bellefontaine Elks-Chefs.

Verailles: 5-5: 6th place finish in the MAC and moved up one pee wee division to D5 this year.

IL: On a 5 game winning streak. The last time they won 6plus in a row was 2016.
Ver: 5 game skid where they were run ruled 3 times.

IL: 2-7 playoff record.
Ver: 65-16 and 7 titles.

IL: 7 Competitive balance number.
Ver: 2 CB.
#####Lake must do a better job at recruiting, or maybe the Lake attracts more than the cornfields and egg plants in Versailles.

IL: Hosted the great cover band That Arena Rock show 1 time at the Party at the Beach.
Ver: Hosted That Arena Rock show...at least twice.

IL: Beat 2 teams with a winning record.
Ver: 3 wins vs .5000 or better.

SImilar opponants:
Anna. IL lost 37-0 and gained 50 yards of offense. and Versailles lost 13-7.
IL did tie Fort Recovery 12-12 in the 2nd scrimmage , but due to the rotating MAC schedule Versailles did not play the Fort.

Thavoice's Narrative:
----Versailles ended ILs 2023 baseball season in an upset on Indian Lake's diamond, and Versailles ended ILs 2023/24 stellar hoops season in an upset as well as the Lakers choked away a district game.

Like Kevin Costner heard a whisper in Field of Dreams, if you listen carefully to waves on Indian Lake you may hear 'We want versailles, we want versailles, we want versailles....'
The lake somes in with that winning streak and Versailles seems to have mailed it in and are already lacing up their sneakers and rasslin' shoes for practice to start on 4 November.
The CBC has been on wrong side of matchups recently with the MAC akin to challenging someone with steel toed boots in a game of roshambo but this is the time the conference redeems itself. This isnt 2021 when the 4 seeded Lakers lose at home vs a 13....

WIll Tigers make it a trifecta in ending Indian Lake's season? Not this time Tigers, not this time

IL 20
Versailles 13.

Been one of those years for the Tigers. After starting out 5-0 an embarrassing loss in the torrential rains of Hurricane Helene to ML started a massive fall off Tigerball. I did not expect the complete collapse they have been ensnared in.

Ben Subler is a dangerous multi-position player for V who has just returned (played a good deal in week 10, but was not yet 100%).

Tigers will have an improved offense and will move the ball on Lake enough to win.

20-13 Tigers

I’ve admired Tiger football for a while since the old TRC. I think the Tigers likely win but I’m warning you don’t sleep on the lake. They are well coached and can play this will not be a walkover like some of you seem to think.

Versailles is 12-0 all time vs Indian Lake, being conference members of the TRC for 8 years in the 70s and having a four year battle in the mid 80s

Versailles banged up though, finally returned Ben Subler from collarbone injury, but then lost Drake Ahrens to collarbone injury

Leave it to Thavoice to get the juices flowing for this matchup.

The thing that bothers me most in the IL stat lines are the TOs or putting the ball on the ground. The QB is a tad better than 50% completion rate with 15 TD and 10 INT. Making my math short, if IL has to play pitch and catch 30 times, they are projected for 3 INT...and that is against mostly CBC competition. Then out of his 70 rushes, he has fumbled, not necessarily TO, 7 times. Then I look at their leading rusher who has 800 yards on the year with 162 carries...nice average but he has put the ball on the ground 5 times, most notably, 2 against Shawnee (1-9) in week 7 in a 14-0 win. Then the PAT rate is at 76% and when every point counts, well, .... I do like the punter is the QB and can flip the field (34 yards a boot), along with have the dimension of being the QB and a skill player and not a soccer kid.

Defensively, well, I again may have to fall back to the Shawnee game as a comparison. IL struggled with penalties, TOs, against a QB that only played 4 games up to that point and from my understanding an OL that had undersized frosh/sophs. I guess what I am getting to, the TO or ball security game will be huge in the outcome of this game for IL to get the Dub.

Just being a realist, the competition IL has seen the past 5 weeks is nothing compared to what Versailles has seen. IL #1 in the CBC Toddler Division versus Versailles #6 in the MAC, we shall see.

Tigers you can likely expect 2-3 diff IL players taking direct snaps with only 1 a real threat to throw it.

They do like the roll out pass to the boundaries and if it's a traditional drop back pass it'd usually a quick or double move. They have an Uber talented Soph WR that they like to go deep with.

Offensively I believe they would be better off if they handed over the scheme and playcalling to their young assistant who was a top notch QB and athlete at IL.

They don't run a punt team out on 4th down and they just read the defense, get a sign from the coach, and if punting the QB drops back to punt.

Strength of IL is usually their defense and they just are a scrappy bunch.

Vtigers....great info. I didn't know about that!

I know last yr IL coaching staff felt like they got shaft in having a 7-3 record and having to face a 9-1 Coldwater team and as the second half of the season progressed ya could see this potential mathup and it wasn't one they were hoping for...

But..it's time to.exercise the demons of past seasons ended by Versailles and get that MAC monkey off their back.

They can't match ILs. Although Versailles Poultry Days is top notch.
Ok, I’ll revise accordingly. Thank you

Versailles 35
Indian Lake 13

A 5-5 or 6-4 MAC is just as dangerous as the typical 9-1 or 10-0. We have seen this story many times, I think Versailles win their first 2 rounds by 2+ TDs.

Thavoice.........are we invited to your yacht before the game?
It may be out of the mud puddle by then and I'll be out of town but maybe I'll catch IL in week 12.
Still trying to make it back to hit up the concert on Saturday at BMI in Versailles tho...

Heading to BMI in a few weeks to catch a couple tribute bands, Journey and Styx.

Who do you think will win region 20?
I'm thinking Lima Bath might be that team.
My guess WLS or Greenview. I saw V play twice vs NB and Marion Local no disrespect, but Versailles is not very good this year. If the Tigers do win R20 they should just blow the whole playoff system up and go to 5 divisions. Winning a region should be a great accomplishment, if Versailles wins R20 with a team that gave up 135 pts. combined to ML, Minster and Coldwater 2 very good D7 schools and a very good D6 school again if that is the case the playoffs as they are currently is a joke. But I would expect WLS or Greenview to win the region.

It won't be WLS.

Greeneview apparently has a stud QB.

Talked to q few greenview folks at the Coldwater.Clinton Massie.game and they seemed to.think they could take down Coldwater with their great QB.

Greeneview has rushed for 2993 yds this season and thrown for 587...qb is a stud...but he is definitely not the reason Greeneview is good...the people you talked to at the Clinton Massie game are idiots. There is no one in Jamestown telling anybody they are on the same level as Coldwater. They are a good team that plays hard...time will tell how this region plays out. There's some good teams mixed in there that could beat anyone at any given night...GOODLUCK to all the D5 Region 20 teams!!!

I'm not predicting a Versailes regional champ, but I could see it happen just the same. There is a huge difference between the MAC and about any other conference. Confidence is a big factor, for that reason I pick Greenview as the most likely champ.
