DI Northeast District

Elyria - Brecksville over Hoban
Lakewood - Garfield Hts over Barberton
Alliance - Louisville over McKinley
Copley - St Ed over Brunswick
Euclid - Jackson over Green
Twinsburg - St Ignatius over Fitch
I love your optimism, but Barberton won’t make it out of sectionals!!

Since the RPI ratings were fixed on Feb 9 for the bracket seeding, there have been a number of games played with outcomes that makes one wonder what the seeding would be as of today. Certainly there would be movement.
Examples:
(2) Brecksville is 0-3 with losses in 3 straight games - to (11) St. Edward, (32) Stow and (27) Hudson. Injuries?
(4) Louisville is 2-0 with wins vs (16) Hoover and (D3-1) Lutheran East
(5) Brunswick is 1-2 with a loss to (10) Strongsville, a win vs (26) Medina, and a loss to (14) Mentor in 2 OT
(6) Green is 2-1 with a loss to (9) GlenOak
(8) Barberton is 1-1 with a loss to (39) Highland
(9) GlenOak is 2-1 with a win vs (6) Green and a loss to (23) Massillon
(10) Strongsville is 3-0 with a win vs (5) Brunswick
(11) St. Edward is 1-1 with a win vs (2) Brecksville and a loss to (D4-4) Richmond Heights
(12) Hoban is 1-1 with a loss to (D2-2) Youngstown Ursuline
(13) Jackson is 3-0 with wins vs (17) McKinley and (26) Medina
(14) Mentor is 3-1 with loss to (D3-1) Lutheran East and a win vs (5) Brunswick in 2 OT

As someone else mentioned earlier, I’d like them to just wait until the regular season is complete before finalizing the RPI seeding and bracket selection. If football can do it, then have playoffs games a week later, basketball can do it.

How far do you think the eagles will make it this year? They haven’t had the superstar players for a while now. Sure looks like the wildcats have whet it takes to make the final four this year and maybe even next year!

The Eagles can certainly reach the regionals. There's a lot of parity and when looking at game outcomes since the bracket seeding, it would be hard to rank teams, especially amongst the top 15

Generally, the larger schools with historically strong programs, who played tough schedules got the upsets. Not too surprising.

The one upset that was somewhat surprising was Brush losing to (then 5-17) Uniontown Lake.
Yes, Lake had played and lost to McKinley (2x), Jackson (2x), Green (2x), Dover, GlenOak (2x), Mentor, Louisville
Brush had played and lost to McKinley, Lutheran West, St. Edward, Cleveland Hts, Richmond Hts, Lutheran East, St. Ignatius .. but also beaten SVSM, Warrensville Hts

Both had challenging regular season schedules. Casenhiser scored 39 for Lake and he was certainly the difference last night

From a Brush fans perspective I’m not surprised at all. This team was a far cry from the teams from 2018-2022 (who couldn’t get over Mentor). They were an anomaly this year losing to some very questionable teams earlier on, while also beating/staying in games with teams they should have never been close with. Personally, they could have won their district, or lost round one, there was no in between. Girls team is absolutely the real deal though this year!
