I love that the puppet masters at ESPN allowed their game to go on this year but said Coldwater and Kenton was not good enough for advertisers about 15 or so years ago!
Still a travesty. The end result is that espn doesn't give a - - - - about high school football. It's all in college recruiting. The teams, games, towns, etc mean absolutely nothing to them.

UGHH hate these paywalls! Can you copy and paste the article here?
Like the aardvark said, having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card. Seriously though, you can access lots of online subscription content from home with a free library card.

Anyway, here's some of the lowlights.

The players went on a paintball outing that the coach insisted would count for school credit. (Then they skipped out without paying the $1,000 bill.)

After getting kicked out of at least two hotels, the players stayed in a coach’s girlfriend’s house, with one shower for 40 players.

One player was living out of his car or sleeping in a storage unit by the end of the season.

Another player arrived in Columbus on a bus from New York one night and played in a game the next day.

There were fights among coaches and among the players.

Players hardly had anything to eat and some had to steal food from nearby grocery stores.

Weird, the ODE report said players at bishop sycamore were 19 and 20, with the NYT further confirming players were in their 20s. The ODE report said “bishop sycamore was, and is, a scam.”

can’t really spin that.

Bishop Sycamore is still a registered school per the ODE correspondence letter dated 2/10/21. Several of its students are still taking classes through their online learning platform, and all of them are on schedule to earn their high school diplomas this June. As a matter of fact, one student-athlete just received an offer from Grambling State University to play college football there starting this Fall. #LastChanceHigh

And a car that's totaled and sitting in a pile at a junk yard could still be registered...

Per the ODE reported dated 12/17/21, they are not a school. Seeing as how that’s more recent….

also, per Bishop Sycamore’s own filing dated Sept. 2021, they have one student. Andre Peterson’s son. That’s all. Per them.

GTF outa here and don’t come back.

Here's an interesting tidbit in the New York Times article. We already knew they were evicted from 24 apartments at The Griff back in 2019 now according to the article they owed three months rent. That totals around $100,000. The year before it was a hotel for $110,000 and last year it was 16 apartments at about $25,000 per month. The source also referred to an ongoing investigation. The full scope of this scam is staggering.

The objective of High School is the education and training of the students. A part of that education are the extracurricular activities such as band, the drama club and athletics.

A school that ignores the teaching of math, English, science social studies is doing irreparable harm to the students.

From what I’ve read the President of the school is a small time con-man. He was probably hoping to secure funding at some point. He deserves jail time for ruining the educational lives of the students.
