Schools that should consolidate

In SW Ohio Northwest local needs to combine both HS.
Last 2 years NW has not been able to field several female sports due to low numbers and Colerain is struggling being competitive in many sports.
NW is also in a conference that is shrinking fast...

Franklin Monroe has a newer school.

There are a lot of schools north of Dayton stretching into northwest Ohio that probably should have been consolidated, but for the most part, the majority seem to be well supported and seen as a source of both community pride and identity. As long as any of these schools have enough students to largely be able to field a typical slate of sports and clubs, they'll probably continue on their own. Once some of those things become untenable, you'd likely see an exodus of students to other schools hastening the decline of a given district.

A few in Portage county. Garrettsville Garfield and Windham Exempted. Atwater Waterloo and Rootstown. Mogadore Field Local needs to send Brimfield Township to Kent City and let Suffield Township merge with Mogadore Local...

The politics of mergers is tricky. Many communities see it as a pride thing and look past the cost savings but the trickier aspect are folding in those union contracts and admin jobs. On the east side of Cleveland a couple 'burbs tried to merge overlapping safety force departments and even with all current employees keeping their jobs the union still sent heavies door to door in outfits with screened badges and department names in huge letters on shirts with contrived propaganda about how crime and fire safety would be affected with any merger. They followed this up by showing up at the council meetings in force and implied threats of finding a slate of candidates that would tow the union line if they didn't get their way. Same happens with schools, just watch what happens in Parma over the next few years. Those folks that purchased homes in Seven Hills want nothing do to with any Parma HS outside of Normandy and will have the backing of the AFT to insure it stays a part of their community identity.

Millersport (Walnut Township Local Schools) should have merged with Liberty Union-Thurston Schools years ago.

For some schools, smaller is better for educational purposes.

Also, some think that mergers of some teams will lead to better sports teams. Often, it just results in a school in a higher division that's still bad. Combining 2 or 3 piles of steaming dog $h!+ generally just results in one very large pile of steaming dog $h!+.
