None of the schools in the WRC are going to want anything to do with Solon in football (except maybe Mayfield and occasionally South). Not a fit.
Plus Solon isn't going to be rushing to play Riverside, Chardon, Madison, Eastlake North, Brush etc in football.
Neither would want anything to do with Solon. And Solon would want nothing to do with most of the wrc.
You guys can play fantasy hs leagues on a message board but you have to be logical in real life.
I don't see Solon continuing to play in the GCC as the only D2 school.
Solon is 4-2 against WRC teams in the past 3 years, 1-1 against South, 1-1 against Mayfield, and 2-0 against Kenston (one blowout and one 6 point game). They would certainly be the team to beat, but not unbeatable.
These decisions are often made with more in mind than competitive fit in football.
Solon is bigger than any of the 8 WRC schools, but not much bigger than the biggest ones.
Chardon and Solon played together in the CVC and were the top 2 teams along with Kenston the last several years of that league.
As someone stated, an 8 team conference is ideal. The 2 smallest schools in the WRC are Chardon and Kenston and they really don't have anywhere else to go, so I doubt there will be an opening any time soon.
I think it will be quite some time before Solon drops to D2 if ever. They are more than 60 boys over the current limit. There are about 20 Division 1 schools smaller than Solon and quite a few that they are within 10-20 boys of.If Solon does fall into D2 numbers, I would rather see them in Suburban Conf. but I have read they want no part of the Comets. :help:
CVC was one of the best conferences ever in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. So many great football games every week. Some of Solon's out of conference games in that era astounded bigger public's, and some privates also.
Except for a certain playoff game vs. Akron Buchtel one December.
this. no need for ten teams. eight is ideal. great mix of teams!!None of those 8 schools will leave the WRC. It's the perfect league for all of them. And a school like Maple Heights will be there even if someone does leave. It's not like a league is looking to scoop them up as if they are in high demand...
Also have you been to Maple Heights lately? Not exactly a similar city to anyone in the WRC.
