Youth Coach Development

I'm a youth basketball coach (only up to U-12 so far) and I want to expand my knowledge. I'm looking for a curriculum that's wide and deep covering the nuances of the game. I'm also looking for guidance a how to teach to young kids, not just what to teach.

I'm wondering if joining USA Basketball and becoming one of their licensed coaches is worth it. On their site, they seem to focus on a background check and obtaining credentials. I don't need either of those. I didn't see much information about their curriculum; that's what interests me the most. Is anyone familiar with USA Basketball? Is it worth joining their program?

If it isn't worth it, are there other avenues I should pursue? Of course, I'd be interested in attending coaching clinics this summer. And there's an endless amount of training videos on YouTube. I'm just wondering if something more formal and authoritative is out there. I'm taking the long-term view here because along with coaching youth teams, I'm coaching my kids. I want to learn as much as possible so I can pass it on to them.

I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hope this is helpful. They have a curriculum model for 3rd-6th grade. Even if the drill isn't intuitive by name, it always lists several tips for the skill(s) required. There are several drill videos under one of the tabs. I've borrowed a few ideas from here over the years.

USA Basketball I would suggest trying to create a customizable e-learning plan selecting the course(s) that seem to fit what you are interested in. That would probably be more beneficial for your situation than the coach licensing program.
