Sort of a sidenote to Coldwater...their titles have spanned three divisions, 4-5 and 6 all while enrollment has pretty much stayed stagnant
They were a small 4 and awhile and the addition of D7 pretty much entrenched them into 5.

Then competitive balance came around. Because there is not much school hopping for sports in the area, the CB numbers are very low and when or some of their former opponents in the finals have now jumped pretty high, CW fell to 6. They struggled when they went to a smaller division until this year.

Doesn't help when 2019 they were put in the meat grinder that was R23. LCC, Archbold, Liberty Center, Anna, Fairview, Minster. Not even getting into the Columbus Groves and Tinoras of the world that are routine playoff threats but "only" went 7-3 that year.

It's no wonder Gibsonburg couldn't qualify at 10-0.

That region made D5R20 look downright easy.

Columbus Grove Bulldogs
156 - 81 Overall (66% wins)
105 - 54 Northwest Conference Record (66%)
22 - 9 Playoff record (71%)
Northwest Conference Champions in '02, '03, '05, '18, '19, and '20
Playoff Qualifiers in '00, '01, '02, '03, '04, '06, '09, '14, '18, and '20 (counting regional quarterfinal appearance as a "qualifier" for '20)
Regional Champions in '01, '02, '03, '14, and '20
State Champions in 2003 (Marion Local's only championship loss to a team that is not Kirtland)

Interesting notes since 2000:
- Qualified for playoffs 10 times in the 21 year stretch, 8 times had a home game in week 11 (2 games in 2020 due to expanded playoffs)
- Only lost in first round of playoffs 1 times since 2000 (2009 vs. Carey)
- 9-0 all-time in home playoff games
- 5/10 Grove teams to make the playoffs since 2000 made it to the regional championship
- Columbus Grove is 5-0 all-time in regional championship games

Not quite the same resume as some of the MAC schools I am familiar with, but Grove has a great football tradition that many schools can be envious of. Adding 1990-99 would add quite a bit to the overall wins and NWC wins, along with 4 playoff appearances and 4 NWC championships, but the first playoff win did not come until 1999 when it was expanded to 8 teams per region. My favorite part about our history from 2000-2020 is that when we make the playoffs, we've got a good tendency to make some noise and win big games, even as underdogs.

I still think if the state would have done a halfway competent job of breaking up D6 last year, there would be no playoff expansion starting next year.

That actually answers a question I had of how many schools have won in three different divisions, especially over a decade or so time frame.
With the added division, and no outsiders wanting to attend hick towns like MSML and Coldwater they just keep falling in divisions when CB was added into the mix.

Steubenville and Cardinal Mooney have both won championships in Div 2,3,and4, but not in just a decade.

So has Cleveland Benedictine but Mooney also won a AAA championship in 73 which was the equivalent of D1 at the time.

Sometimes it’s tough to compare eras I believe the WBL was extremely tough in the 80s and 90s and has dropped off considerably since then. There were some unbelievable teams mainly the Saint Mary’s, and Defiance State championship teams.I do not think the league overall is nearly as strong many of the schools have lost a lot of enrollment and that has been a factor. Still a solid league but not close to what it was during those times.

I am thinking that Geico can find a way to make a commercial out of your meme abilities in their dont become like your parents campaign!

Kudos for trying though.
Dawg, you're trying to big time me over memes that aren't even directed at you... on a high school football forum... in the offseason.

Since others have mentioned this here are a few more stats:

The Tigers home record this century is 111-8 (.933) and they’ve only lost 3 home games the last ten years.

Also breaking down their playoff record by round:

1st round games: 16-3
2nd round games: 10-6
Regional Championship: 8-2
State Semifinals: 5-3
State Championship: 2-3
