The Verdict: 5/8 typical deus ex machina courtroom drama. Instead of the lead being sober and the wise teacher figure being drunk, it was the lead who was drunk and the wise teacher figure who was sober.
 
House At The End Of Street (2012) 3/8 Jenifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Shue star in this one as a mother/daughter who move to a new town next to a house where a brutal murder occurred. Lawrence falls for the son who still lives in the house. The movie had a decent twist, but otherwise it wasn't very good.

Good Morning Vietnam (1987) 6/8 Robin Williams stars as a military DJ stationed in Vietnam. He raises some controversy with the brass, but support with troops. I think this is one of his better movies.

Back to the Future (1985) 7/8 An 80's classic. I think Christopher Lloyd makes these movies.
 
Invitation to Hell (1984)

Horror: Wes Craven..... a new job puts the family on the move and they land in the suburbs where joining the local club is the way to make things happen..... but at what cost? This one was pretty good for a 80's TV Movie and look, it is that kid from A Neverending Story..... 5.5/8
 
The Crooked Man (2016)

Horror: A girls slumber party turns tragic when one of the girls is dared to do something. This one suffers from silly CGI and a poor story ... 2.0/8
 
The Wind (2018)

Horror Western: Isolation, untamed land... a woman suffers..... do not trust anyone!!!! This one is a bit strange and a slow burn. probably should of been better..... leads you to use your imagination.... 4.0/8
 
Better Watch Out (Australia-2016)

Horror: 12 year old Luke tries to hook up with his hot babysitter but it gets interrupted by a threatening intruder. X'Mas Horror Movie! Enough said.... 5.5/8
 
Any Given Sunday (1999) 4/8 Everytime I watch this movie, I feel like it could have been so much better. Excellent cast, legendary director, pretty good story line, and I think the football parts are pretty good too. Oliver Stone tried to make an art film out of a professional football story and failed pretty badly.
 
They can design a ship to travel to the stars and travel thousands of years but they can't design a ship that can land.

Planet of the Apes: 7/8 Held up better than I expected,Heston's over pontificating aside. The story, make-up and sets are fantastic.
Beneath the Planet of the Apes: 4/8 Same for sets and make-up. A few spots that would benefit modern CGI. Story lame but a good set-up for the next movie.
Escape From the Planet of the Apes: 6/8 yeah ok, they had to work plot magic to get this one started but one of the all-time classic endings.
 
The Hollow Child (Canada-2017)

Horror: A teen being fostered believes her young sibling is an impostor. This one wasn't too bad.... 4.5/8
 
Kamera Wo Tomeruna! (Japan-2017)

Horror Comedy: aka "One Cut of the Dead" (actual translation is Camera keep rolling!)..... A director of a zombie flick displeased with the performance of the lead actress does a blood ritual to raise the dead to get a more realistic feel. This one starts out with a bang with a 37 minute continuous shot that looked awkward at times including a moment when the director yells at the camera man. The shot though was amazing and later it is revealed why the opening shot looked the way it did. This movie was genius and unlike any other Zombie flick I have seen and a must see of those into the Zombie Comedy genre (which I am not a fan of)... 6.0/8

 
The Curse of La Llorona (2019)

Horror: The Conjuring Universe a woman is convinced that the weeping woman Llorona is after her children. I love the Conjuring Universe movies and this one did not disappoint at all. Was impressed with the acting of the children in this one but the acting job of the one priest was not great at all. Keep'em coming!!! .... 5.5/8
 
The Witchmaker (1969)

Horror: This was the original and not the re-release under the title "Naked Witch". We are in Louisiana and way out in the swamps where 8 women have vanished. A group investigating this discovers the mystery and now fear they are next. This one just did not satisfy my witchy needs..... 2.0/8
 
Waterloo 4/8: watched as a follow up to War and Peace. Eh. Worth the bit of history but generally doesn't tell the story well. Wiki said Stanley Kubrik had planned a movie. Spielberg intended to follow up. But never got done. Can't imagine it could be well done now. Marching over a half a million soldiers to Russia, how do you make that real? Not NEAR enough good movies about Napoleon.

The Cruel Sea 7/8: Highly recommend. One of those well received at the time but lost to history type movies. I can't get enough of these during or near WWII movies. There's an economy of dialogue that makes all the words worthwhile. They could display more story with a look or glance because then, no one needed an explanation. They were living it. This one's dialogue plays like a song, some bit is going to register with you personally. No end goal, just the life of a Captain and his First during war in the Atlantic. Makes it interesting as it is told from two POVs. -1 for I'm sure a mistake on ship classification and some editing jumps at the beginning.
 
Last Flag Flying (2017)- Came across this gem on Amazon Prime Video. The plot involves three Vietnam vets (played by Steve Carrell, Bryan Cranston and Laurence Fishburne) reuniting to bury one of their sons, a young Marine killed in the Iraq War. It did not get great ratings, but I thought it was very good and would highly recommend it. 6.5/8.

East, you are taking me back to a time in the mid to late 70's when I showed up to the local theater to watch whatever was playing that afternoon and got the Planet of the Apes marathon!

I missed out on those times. When it was possible, I was too young. When I was old enough, all our neighborhood theatres were run down, town down or had turned to porn houses. It was across town to the malls to see movies. That wasn't in the budget or means until one of the friend group was old enough and had the job to get a beater car.

The last two POTA movies were a bit of a trudge. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the first three. Ranked them all higher than what they have on imdb.

Daniel Isn't Real (2019)

Horror: A college freshman summons up his make believe childhood friend Daniel for help..... well, you know that is not a good idea. Refreshing horror movie and strong contender for best horror movie of the month..... 6.5/8
 
Delivered (2020)

Horror: A pregnant woman about to bust finds comfort at a meeting where she meets another woman but soon suspects something isn't quite right...... well, maybe she should of watched the French film "Inside" (2007) as this one reminded me a lot of that. (I have not yet seen the American remake version of Inside) ... 5.0/8
 
Vuelven (Mexico-2017)

Fantasy/Horror: "Tigers Are Not Afraid" An orphaned little girl Estrella is haunted by the dead as a drug cartel tries to kill the gang of kids she hangs with. This is one messed up fairy tale ..... 4.5/8
 
Overlord (2018)

Horror: American soldiers discover a terrorizing experiment as they advance behind enemy lines on D-day. What could of been a pretty decent film got destroyed by the Hollywood Garbage over the top crap with unbelievable female actions..... 3.5/8
 
Suicide Squad (2016) 4/8 Another one of those movies that could have been better. Good cast and solid director. I love Harley Quinn in the movie, but I'm somewhat partial to Margot Robbie lol. I'm looking forward to the reboot, even though the DC movies as a whole continue to let me down.

Awesome movie. Hugh Grant likes it as a sleazy tabloid reporter. If there’s any kind of Academy Awards this year, he should get a Best Supporting Actor Nom.
 
The Americanization of Emily 6/8 a bit of a disjointed attempt at messaging but unique in the message it attempted to send, for a WWII movie. A little bit Overlord and a little bit Catch-22. Mary Poppins hops into bed pretty quickly in this one. I will say, it had IMO one of the most harrowing depictions of the D-Day landing.
